In most places, the process takes two days. Day one: Morning Medical exam and afternoon fingerprints. Day two: Morning interview and afternoon visa release to applicant.

You should walk out of the Consulate on the second day with your visa and immigration packet.

It is going to take a while. Those types of things always are time consuming because they have to do a background check on the person.
