I currently have Windows XP and MS Office 2003 on my computer. I would like to download beta trials versions of Vista and 2007 from the Microsoft website, but I am concerned what will happen when the trial versions expire. Will those programs revert back to XP and 2003 when the trial periods expire?

A follow-up question occured to me as I was typing: Can I revert to the old versions myself during the trial period (in case I don't like the new programs, they're not stable, etc.)

Every beta software has a different rule,,, as regard beta vista,, it can not be installed with another operating system yet,, you have to do a complete clean install,,so you will loose your old operating system completely and have to install it again after vista is ended in march 2007,,or even during this period,,,and yes during the trial period you can also do the same,, remove beta version completely and then reinstall your xp

Typically when trials expire, they just stop working. They'll bug you to purchase but no, they don't revert. A trial of an operating sytem should only be used on a spare computer anyway, not on your existing one that you can't live without. In the case of Office, you'd proably just uninstall the expired trial of 2007 and reinstall Office 2003.

They Will Most Likely Quit Working Or Only Allow you to Use A Certain Portion Of Either program (like having certain parts of office not accessible) If You Are going to revert back from Vista to XP I think You May Need To re-format I'm not 100% sure but a friend of mine called me with that problem yesterday and he ended up just re-formatting but either way good luck!

Not always. Unless you do a hard shut-down, they may stay the same. There is always an option on the beta page to go back to the original version if you are not happy.
