I have to go with Peter Lugers also. The steak is amazing. They let it sit in butter for two or three days before they cook it. Tender and delicious.

Congee Village Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in N.Y.C.. Congee Village was on the top 100 Best restaurants for 2005, was Zagat Rated, offers huge party rooms, and has two stairs but there is always a long line outside. Another one is New York Noodle Town. Noodle Town won Top 100 Cheapest Restaurants and was also Zagat Rated, along with many other awards.

I don't know if you are just visiting or asking as a traveler, but if you haven't been there yet you should try, "Tavern on the Green". The food is great and it is a wonderful experience.
For pizza, try Johns... You won't be disappointed.
