I have an 05 Titan, with a KnN intake system on it. My check engine light came on after 3 months of use with no problems. I put 500 miles with the intake easily if not more, then out of the blue my check engine light comes on. I've called KnN numerous times and the solutions they gave me only worked temporarily, so I was told to just send it back. I put my stock intake back on and my light has went away, so I know its not my truck. Has anybody encountered this with either their truck or one they worked on? Also, should I just put the intake back on and take it in for service and see what they tell me?

I dont know what the code number was, but I know when the guy at Bumber to Bumber showed me, it said "Gross air leak", dont know if that helps or not.

Probably has to do with the low vacuum pressure in the intake due to easy airflow thru the new high flow filter, the map sensor is probably thinking somthing is wrong. As long as dirty air is not entering intake, its fine, if you can put up with the light on. Id put the KnN back on, wait for the light, have the OBD-2 scanned and see what the code is. I love my intake, for the power and sound.

You're running on lean conditions. Too much air and not enough gas. The intake is screwing with your MAF sensor. You could try upgrading your fuel pump but that doesn't guarantee the CEL won't come on again or the better idea is to put the intake back on then get it dynotuned by a professional.

The same thing happened to me in my car.....well almost. The CEL didn't come on but my car was stalling once a day. As soon as I took the intake off and put the stock box back on, problem was solved.

THIS SUCKS because not every car is like that (meaning it might happen to your Titan but it will work perfectly fine on somebody else's Titan)

The Nismo system does not have the same problem as far as I can tell having only installed about 25 so far each year on customers trucks. It sure would have helped knowing what the code number was and better yet what the freeze frame data was telling the engine control to do? We also use the Banks cat back exhaust system
