2 years ago we had this one cat named Shadow. He was my mom's baby, she loved him more than you can imagine. We had him for about 2 years previous to the above mentioned date. 1 weekend that summer my mom & dad were up at Penn State for the weekend. While home my bf & I found Shadow underneath a tree. He had been hit by a car but was alive. We took him to the animal hospital. I will spare details but we had to keep him alive long enough for my mom to get home & say goodbye. We then put him to sleep.

1 month later we got a new cat named Bungee. He is the cutest cat ever. He is a Baby, I mean literally, 2 years old & you can carry him like a baby everybody loves him. Well I woke up this morning & went outside & found Bungee by the steps & he was dead! Today is my mom's birthday & she is in Mexico on vaca till Sun. I have the vet holding him until she gets home. I won't tell her till she gets home but what do I say to her? HELP! She is going to freak out and I am freaking out. So Sad

We try and keep them inside, but we have a dog who uses a dog door and the cats have learned to use it. It makes it hard. We have three other cats. One is 19 and the other two are 8

I am so sorry. Please realize that cats who live outside tend to have a very short life in comparison to indoor cats.

All you can do is just tell her you have very sad news. It was not your fault.

Wait till she gets back. Tell her you are very sorry. Maybe you should either keep the cats inside or suggest she keep them in a kennel from now on. I'm very sorry this happened to you.

I'm very sorry for you loss. It's hard to lose a pet. This is why keeping them inside is the best.

Just tell what you said above. Yes, she'll be heartbroken, yes she will freak out. But it is unavoidable.

Tell your Mom the truth, about what happened and how you found your(Her) "Kitty."
Remember: "The Truth Hurts; But, A Lie Hurts Far More and Worse!"
Sorry for your Loss; You have to be Brave, Caring, Honest, and Considerate, for You and your Mom!

just ease it on her. don't just suddenly say "Mom, Ur cats dead" explain what happened so she will understand better. Just take comfort in the fact that you gave them good happy lives. It's NOT easy losing any pet, you get very attached to them and their little personalities. It's hard to see them go. its a fact of life all things will someday die. I'm sorry to hear about it. i hope that every thing will go well.

When you tell her, do NOT rush it on her. What I mean is that you shouldn't tell her as soon as she gets home. You should tell her when you think she is ready, and most importantly-yourself. What you could do is, you could write out on paper what you want to tell your mom. Then, you could either read it to your mother or just give it to her. I'm so sorry about what happened, and if you use this, I hope it works.

Oh, I am so sorry. That breaks my heart. All you can do is just break it to her gently. I feel for all of you. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Losing a pet is so hard. I lost my beloved Bobby, 16, in July of this year.

Wait until she is home from vacation. Either way she is going to be sad, and always mourn her losts. but at least she can have happy memories of her vacation.

tell her the same as before. doesn't this tell ANYONE out there that the cat should've been kept indoors if they didn't want to lose it to death via; car, disease, another animal?
