I just found out that my city is getting a Sam's Club. I know you have to become a member in order to purchase things, but I was wondering what kinds of products they sell. Is it similar to Wal-Mart, or would you say it's better?

It is similar to Wal-Mart but they sell a lot of stuff like canned goods in bulk, like cans of corn you have to buy 6 or 8. The prices are OK but they usually only sell the name brands or the Sam's club brand. They do have good prices on TVs, appliances, garden tools, batteries and tires. It just depends on what you need. The best thing to do is when they open, they will have a time for the public, go through and check it out.

It's similar to Costco though I'm told Sam's has better selection. You buy items in bulk thus saving on what you would have paid for the item had you bought it per piece at a regular grocery store. They don't have everything that a regular grocery store or Wal-Mart may have but they do have a fine selection of items and if you have a big family and buying in bulk works for you then go for it... If you're single or maybe it's just you and a spouse or significant other it may or may not be worth it depending on how many household goods you consume annually. I'd take a look at what you spend on groceries and household goods now and then find out prices of some of the items they carry and see if it would be worth the 50 odd dollars they charge for membership... Will you make back that 50 dollars through the savings of shopping there? Will you continue to save money over all by shopping there once you've made back your annual dues?

Have fun!

Bigger than a typical Wal-Mart. Many more items and choices in virtually all categories! Pretty cool actually the first time you visit one.

Like most of these 'clubs' you can often get a free one time pass to enter and buy stuff so you might enquire about that at first. Also, when they open new locations they often have promotions to discount the fee to join so be on the look out in your local paper.

Cheers!! :)

They sell everything like food in large quantities. It's cheaper in the long run to buy this way and the extra large packages last longer. Many products of food that Sam's Club has...you can't find in regular supermakets. It's somewhat similar to Walmart, but the difference is, they carry a variety of things, not just food. Furniture, clothes, OVC things like asprin, vitamins, shampoos and conditioners etc. etc. all in super large sizes or containers. Sam's Club is actually like a department store in that respect.

Well worth the membership dues if you shop smart. We buy all of our meats, fish, chicken cold and hot cereals, fruit juice, and paper goods for a huge savings over the supermarket prices. Some things are not so great of a deal, like by the time you make it half way through a 5 gallon drum of mayo its probably not going to be any good, same thing with fruit since you have to buy it all in bulk most of it will go bad. So try to stay with items that you can consume before they expire

Oh, you will love it! It's a huge warehouse store. Everything is in bulk, but if you have a deep freeze or just buy non-perishables, you're set. It's also great for cookware, furniture, books, computers, clothes, anything under the sun. My Sam's didn't have fresh meat though. And TP for months was a bonus! I think my membership only was $25. Don't know if they changed that now, but you'll still love it!

Sams Club is comparable to Costco. I like Sams Club better than Costco because the memebership does not cost an arm and a leg and on the whole, their prices are better.
