No. The Truth of God is neither contingent upon nor nullified by the passage of time.

God's Word exists outside of time. Nothing temporal changes it.

did you know that the ten commandments were given as a curse, instead of being a blessing? nobody, in his or her sinful state can obey completely just any one of the commandments, much more the nine others. that's why in order for God to 'legalize the curse' he has to give the Ten Commandments. But when the Jewish Age ended in 70 AD, this was also phased out.

The three about not worshipping other gods, keeping graven images, or maintaining the Sabbath are unnecessary. They only restrict people to worshiping one "god."

Now, I would say the taking God's name in vain is unnecessary, but I don't believe it. I think that many people should not take God's name in vain. I think that when they commit heinous acts, they should take responsibility for their own actions and not blame it on God.

The remaining commandments are pretty decent. They help keep someone moral.

Except for the coveting commandment. That commandment is not needed. It is through coveting that people improve their lives. It would be a sin if you coveted something and then were too lazy to fill that void.

I find the previous answers interesting because many I know would say that the 4th commandment: to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy, is no longer applicable because the Sabbath is Saturday. Yet I disagree with those I know. I quite agree that it is still right to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy.

No there isn't. All are still relevant. They are words and instruction written by God himself. God is not bound by time and we know that He is the same throught out all time- "He is the same yesterday, today and forever". If he does not change, then His commandments do not change and therefore are relevant today. Having said this, if we have found grace and forgiveness through our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and by repenting from our sins, we are then living by grace and in the Holy Spirit and our sinful nature no longer rules us and as such we are not bound by the Law.

None of the ten commandments are 'needed'. Societies make laws based on their cultural values. People behave based on what their culture defines as legal, illegal, ethical, moral etc. We do not now and never have 'needed' someone to tell us what 10 laws are more important than any others. Every culture and society makes those decisions for themselves.

If you break one commandment, you break them all:
James 2:10-13
10 For the one who obeys the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,”also said, “Do not murder.”Now if you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a violator of the law. 12 Speak and act as those who will be judged by a law that gives freedom. 13 For judgment is merciless for the one who has shown no mercy. But mercy triumphs over judgment.

You are in error with your thinking. The Ten Commandments aren't there to show us how to live. They are there to show us how much and often we fail to meet God's standards and therefore how much we need Jesus to be our Savior... Jim

I find your question interresting...are you looking for a commandment that doesn't apply to you, personallyl?
I find the answers you've gotten so far even more interesting.
My own opiinion, of course, is that we need all ten...but, since most of us have broken several of them, we need Jesus even more!!
