You'll have to cut back a little at time. You've heard it before, caffeine IS addictive. Your body believes it needs it to feel normal. Cut back slowly, and try to make it less appealing (use less sugar and less cream).

I don't drink coffee, and I don't need caffeine to help me "wake up". Why? Because I don't use caffeine, it's a self creating need.

PS: Studies have shown that people do worse on memory tests after drinking caffeine.

PPS: Alertness pills are just another caffeine intake, you haven't accomplished anything.

Wellll, I drink about 3-6 cups of coffee a day(more in winter) and iced tea...I am talking mugs not those little 4 ounce cups...I am drinking coffee now...my mother used to drink 3-5 POTS of coffee a day...you get more caffiene in a Pepsi or Coke or Dr Pepper and about as much in a cup of tea...

You have no problem if you like it drink it...you are not allergic to it. If you have trouble sleeping drink de-caf after 3 in the afternoon...

BTW: My mother is 80 works everday and runs her antique shop on weekends; she still drinks around 6 cups of coffee a day and her mother(99) does too...
