Look, I know you love me and I know you know how much I love you, but I'm really confused about what's going on w/ you and us. I keep hearing and seeing what I think are mixed signals from you about what you want. If it's not working for you, you can tell me. In fact, I need to hear it. I don't even need to know why. If you're just confused and scared, please just tell me that. That changes things dramatically. I think we both value honesty in any relationship and hope we're being honest with ourselves.

I have only a few qualms with your proclamation;
1. I don't even need to know why.
If things aren't working between you two and she tells you such, in the long run it'll help you grow as a person and establish closure for the both of you if you have a few hints as to where the path went awry. It'll help you both grow as people.
2.If you're confused and scared, please just tell me that.
You're giving her a statement to use that's an out without clarification or deeper probing of the issues at hand (whatever they may be). This allows for fast denial of a truly open forum.
I think it's in your best interest to establish your feelings (as you already have, beautifically) and then navigate the conversation towards open dialogue; the last sentence perfectly sets the tone for the conversation you're trying to initiate. Good luck.
