Hi Honey,
I'm sorry about those who treat you badly. Some of my Christian brothers and sisters are really embarrassing. I have a very strong feeling that they are in for a big surprise when their "holier than thou" butts get to the Pearly Gates.
Hugs to you, friend.

The truth unfortunately is that many "Christians" aren't really christian they are just church goers with a christian worldview that they don't really follow always. True Christian have had their lies changed by Jesus Christian and are able to live in love due to the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The truth is only God can really love the way we should and if He is really in a person's life they can't truly love the way the should no matter what kind of moral standard they try live up to.
With that said, truth is the real Christian life is a better more abundant life that has great purpose in it. Often times since we are experiencing all the blessings that God is freely giving us we forget that it isn't because of us at all. Some Christians become utterly prideful because of this. This is a sad situation.
I'm personally sorry about your treatment its really not Christ-like. I do pray that you will encounter some genuine Christians who really living the sacrificial life that Christ taught. Blessing to you.

Some do.
You could just as easily ask why Muslims claim to be members of a peaceful religion, yet there is an awful lot of violence and religious bigotry practiced in the Muslim world. But, I bet t here are some Muslims that are peaceful and loving. In fact, I'm sure there are. Of course, Mohamed actually endorsed violence towards non-Muslims, and Muslims are proud of the fact that their religion has not changed in 1400 years.
The Christian Bible has a few warped verses in it, but Christianity has evolved and many Christians are more concerned with the message of love, justice, and tolerance that you will also find in the Christian Bible, side by side with the verses that simply reflect the prejudices of people in ancient times.
Never mind the Fundamentalists. Believe it or not, they're the minority though they are a very loud minority, and their numbers are growing.
Oh, you could also pick on Hindus, and several other groups. Some Hindus in India are actually very racist and endorse religious bigotry towards both Christians, who are an extremely small minority in India, and Muslims. Many right-wing politicians in India use the Hindu religion to further their own agenda.

people find what they want from bible, pick and choose to fit thier hatred and doctrines not consistent with the character of the social justice guy. They like the violent peacenik who overturns tables and returns for his chosen ones on a horse and kills all the unfaithful infidels more than a guy who turned the other cheek
doctrine is largely what is imagined and influenced by pagan myths to fill in the gaps based in illiteracy and no education

Unfortunately, you are probably correct. As a Christian, I have noticed far too many fellow "christians" who are disrespectful, rude, and bitter. However to group ALL Christians into this category is unfair and innaccurate. As in any society/culture it is the bad apples that give the rest of the whole a bad name.
We HAVE been called to love and respect one another; not to JUDGE others, but rather to admonish innappropriate behavior.
2 Thes 3:15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

No one is perfect. That is one of the failings of a Christian. Often times we are set up as suppose to be perfect... but we are not. I fail more times than I do good... I dont' want to, but that's what I am, my sin. I'm not perfect, and I'm sure as heck not better than anyone else....
Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what it means to be a true Christian or be in a close spiritual relationship with God.
It could even be that they are afraid to face themselves and their own failings.... so they put up a fasade to make people think that they think they are better than everyone else....

They may be only Christian in name but have never really surrendered their lives to Christ and so they are essentially unbelievers hurting the name of Christ. Or they are immature believers who have not learned humility and kindness towards others. I apologize to you for their bad behavior. As a Christian I know that I could be involved in all kinds of sin and evil. We are all sinners but I thank God for getting a hold of my life. I am no better than anyone else however I found an awesome God who loved us so much that he died for us and lovingly welcomes us back. I want others to know this love and salvation.
Please consider Jesus and his word and don't be distracted by foolish people.
God bless you.

I spent many years deliberately outside of God's grace because of what some of the people who professed to know his Son did and said to me.
It took me a long time to come to understand that I was letting simple sinners determine my relationship with my creator. I put my eternal soul in peril because of what some folks said and did.
I hope that you will not make my mistake. When I look back and see how utterly silly my thought process was, I am ashamed.
And yet filled with gratitude that for whatever his good purposes God saw fit to show me Christ ... instead of Christians ... as the Savior of the world.
Seek God, and all shall become clear to you if you find him. Do not seek people, unless what you want to find is this simple, basic fact: We are all sinners, and none of us can save ourselves.

I'm sorry that you had to go through that. Not all Christians are true christians and no christian is perfect. Hope you run into some great ones and I hope you become one yourself so you can teach others the proper way to represent Jesus.

Matthew, chapter 10 verse 34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
See, this is why we can know who is not a Christian, for anyone who says Jesus came to spread peace is calling God's Word a lie.
