I think it would depend on the "date" and what you are looking for...or what both of you are looking for, for that matter.
If you are on a typical dinner and a movie date, I wouldn't go back to a man's appt, house or anywhere non-public on the first several dates. If you are at a bar and looking for a 1 night stand, then I supose you would ask a girl back to your place.
I personally don't invite men to my house. I have a child here and that is not the environment I want for her. I will let a man pick me up for a date, but I do not invite him in my house. The man I am currently dating for about a year now, didn't come into my house until about a month of dating. And I didn't go to his house until shortly after that.
But.....I guess it would be more expected for you to invite her to your house then the other way around. Good luck with the dating field!

WHOA! Simmer down.. let things happen. It's fine if you ask her back to your place but don't expect sex. The first time that I go with a dude back to his place I am definately not giving it up. You might get lucky but don't aim for that... invite her to your place if you haven't gotten enough of her company on the date and let nature take it's course! Above all else BE A GENTLEMAN!

Yes after dinner. You take her to a movie, maybe out dancing and a couple of drinks then when you are in the care to take her home ask her if she would like to go to your place for a cup of coffee or something. If she agrees take her home with you. I cant believe you have not been on many dates. Your too cute.

I think either way works; what ever is most convienent. You can pick up on signals of what the other person wants. If she seems apprehensive and neervous, give her time, don't pressure her into "going back to the apartment". Enough time and patience impresses any women to "go back to your apartment".

i don't see how you haven't been on many dates...you are so hot! either way...i guess who ever asks first! depends on if you have roommates or she does...you don't want to go back to a place w/others hanging around!
