How would you feel if your significant other asked you for a "break" from the relationship? Not a long one....just one where they can get themselves together. Would you wait? Or assume its over?

And now I will have to shout "WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!"
I think that 90% of the so called breaks happen because the one asking for it has feelings for someone else.
Personally I would not think it was over at first but a break longer than 2 weeks would probably mean it's over. The other party definitely can live without you so why wait?
To tell you the truth I would even try to have one night stands right away cause let's face it, life is small to miss any good opportunities and because it's the right time to realize what my true feelings are too.

In my experience, I once asked for a break because my BF was causing me too much stress and there was another guy giving me lots of sweet attention. I wanted to try to find out if my BF was someone I should be with and decided to find out thru another man. Well, the other man was a disaster and my BF and I got back together 2 weeks later. We're not together now though and to be honest, as I've gotten older I don't think a break is the best thing. It's usually the first step to a break up. If you can't work it out, you shouldn't be together. Sorry!

Depends on how many years u are see each others over one year or 2 years, Maybe he or she need a break to think it over , too seee if he or she is right person or maybe she or he are think about married and see what would happen if they take a break, I see alot couples take a break from relationship and in one month they came back to each others and end up married. Now if they are married than it problem a big problem if he or she ask for break. if two people love each others sometime they will break from each others to spend time alone and spend more time with other family or friends

sometimes the things that you rily dont wana do are the things you should do. sad huh! but anyway get to the bottom of this. tell this girl that he'z taken, n he's yours. BE HARD or your dude, tell him what the **** is he doin, when he comment back that kid. go on myspace you also, and send him comments to show the girl that he'z yours. n see how your boyfriend reacts. if that upset him, then he must have feelings for this girl. if he'z ok with that then yes he likes you still like he said. but go n mysapce n ACT. Assume its over. I mean why would you need a break??? That's just being selfish. If it's really worth it, he/she would talk it over with you, find out what's wrong, and work together to come up with a solution to fix it. Usually when someone states they need a break there is no effective communication in the relationship!!!

The answer depends on what the circumstances are.
If he's asking this so he can say, get his act together to go to rehab for example. this could be a good reason to split for a bit so he can get his act together and get of drugs/alcohol or whatever the case may be.
If he has no problems like this. then what he's really saying is he wants to see if he can actually get along in life without you.
Look at it as a pre-breakup.

That happened to me and it hurts so bad but sometimes you just have to deal with it and about the stay or go part with him i am waiting because if you truly love someone or got feelings for them you would wait to me anyway. I really do like him to and you kno i think that he is waiting to see if i am going to leave or stay because you know how some people just try to test you and stuff and thats how he is cause he asks everyday u gon get a man or wait for me and hes doing because he is trying to see if i am going to sho him that i really care or forget about him. He really has feelings for me and he tell me i bet not get no otha man or he is not gonna speak to me. He a jealous person why i don't kno but hey atleast it sho some signs that he wants me you kno so if you really like someone you will wait okay

In my view if your g/f,b/f ask you for a break it means that they are tried of you or the relationship,so basically it over.

It has nothing to do with getting themselves together; it usually means I dont' want to be tied down or I've met someone else.
Being apart doesn't bring a couple together.
