The best tool i have come accross in finite elememt analysis for meshing is Hypermesh.

It is a very comvenient tool for meshing compared to any other tools.

However it is not much recommonded for post processing.

Although the 'standard' tools are MSC/PATRAN & NASTRAN in aerospace, and ANSYS in automotive, they are not the easiest to use (since they try to have the most capabilities).

For non-expert I would recommend PTC's Pro/Engineer & Pro/Mechanica - It uses a technology called P-elements which is much more forgiving on how you mesh than traditional elements.

ANSYS also has a simplified FEM package which integrates into SolidWorks (I think its called InPart) I have never used to, but saw some comparisions at a trade show, and it looked pretty easy.
