See Article 11.

Art. 11. "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility......"

Biblical law by no means is perfect in anyway. It's way too vague and contradictory.

Because America was founded by Christians seeking religious freedom. Christians who fled oppression in England under Queen Elizabeth I who killed and torturned anyone who wouldn't take up her faith.

So they came here. The Puritans sucked at it. They persecuted every faith that came along behind them. The Quakers immediately began working to give women rights and free slaves. The Catholics were busy making sure everyone was fed and educated. The Protestants were busy too, but I can't remember what they were doing...

They had all survived oppression. Only the Puritans sought to oppress those who followed them. They were pretty much weeded out.

The United States was founded on religious freedom, not Christianity - although the laws enacted are of Judeo-Christian heritage. The Constitution was enacted as the highest law of the land to provide government and avoid chaos.

our laws are motivated by the bible in part. some of the laws are seen as not being important people that far away from the bible times. also not all of the founding fathers were christians. some may have been atheist.

our const. is a document of compromise, which means our founders had to add a little from others beliefs.

Who says it was founded by Christians? Oh, right, those fundies. They always seem to equate deists with Christians.

But Christians don't necessarily follow Biblical law. I've seen many a child curse his parents, and not one Christian stepped forward to murder the child as God commanded. Biblical laws are viewed as imperfect even by Christians.

And don't even get me started on how the Ten Commandments were supposedly the basis of American laws, when only two commandments are actually punishable in an American court of law.

Because not everyone believes in the same Bible laws as perceived and interpreted by men. A great example are the many preachers and their out look on laws, the many clerics and their out look on their religious law.

It is call...you can believe what you want, but the law is separated from doctrine and dogma. Of course its not from political ploy ...now is it.

The United States of America was established and founded by men who accepted the bible as the written word of God and as completely true. This is historcal fact.
In the bible God gives man the authority to rule on the earth. This meant that the rule of government had to be established with fore thought to the many different Christian denominations and having true equality for all men. I beleive that most if not all of the original states had a similar requirement to serve in government office. This requirement was two fold:
1) Those holding office had to be a member in good standing on their local church
2) They had to publicly profess to beleive, when being sworn in to office, that the bible is the written word of God that it was God breathed and is completely true.

How far we have fallen, as a nation under God, in striving to reflect, represent and honor God with our thoughts, actions, opinions and attitudes individually and as a nation.

This just gives proof that Satan is alive and well, flourishing in the U.S. of A. today.

Our purpose for establishing religious freedom for all people and all religions was to let others (non-Christians) see first hand the power of God to save, change and transform lives through Jesus.
There may have been different denominations, however, all being bible based they were in agreement that "narrow is the door in to the kingdom of heaven" and that Jesus and Jesus alone is the only way into the Kingdom and to have eternal life with the Creator of all life.

If all of us, as Christians, would live our life based on the wisdom and knowledge in the bible applying it with understanding to our daily life can you imagine the impact on not just the U.S.A. but the world?

This was the goal of our founding fathers.

The premise of this concept is Proverbs24:3,4 (N.I.V.)
By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautful treasures.

This nugget of wisdom is still applicable today in our country and in our individual lives.

Its supposed to be a free country, where people can practice their religious beliefs, or abscence of them, as they see fit. America was actually founded by people who were escaping religious dictatorship--they were not allowed to practice their religion, so they came here to do so. As time went on, other religiously motivated groups settled here, each with its own set of beliefs. Rather than force one denomination down everyones' throats the writers of the Constitution WISELY decided to leave it up to each individual American to decide how, or even if, they were going to worship.

Look at Northern Ireland--Catholics and Protestants at almost constant war. Look at poor Lebanon, or the whole Middle East for that matter. Do you want that kind of religious warfare here? Of course not. Just remember, it might seem perfectly reasonable to you to force your religious views on somebody else, but that would be as wrong as them forcing theirs on you. Leaving people free to decide for themselves is not only morally right, it is very practical. thank you, have a nice day.

God's law is perfect. Humankind is not.

Constitutional law attempts to order the society. Biblical law, if believed and followed, orders the soul.

Governments have no sway over human souls. They have sway over human behavior.

The world is a different realm than eternity.

All this and more.

Because It was people that abused religious power and forced their religious view and will on others that our country rose above. By the way just because history says that they were all or even mostly christian doesn't mean it is true.
