OMG - I SO feel you! I lived in that shithole for 5 years.

Texas has sales tax, but NOT personal property tax or INCOME tax. I love not sharing my paycheck with that sorry excuse for a state!

Sorry, man... but I did not enjoy all the technicalities of living there.
Not every state will tax personal property, I'm sure Maryland doesn't. When I lived there, Maryland didn't even require annual safety inspections.

If your car is registered in VA, you will be paying taxes on it. Move down here - people are nicer, less snow, and no personal property tax... Did they start taxing big TVs yet?

Oregon has no sales tax so you can buy the car tax free, the only catch you need to be a resident. If you bought it in Oregon and took it back to Virginia then you would have to pay the Virginia sales tax for the purchase price. When I lived in Oregon, you bought you license plates and they were good for two years at $38.00 for the two years.

If you buy your car in another state and bring it to VA, you'll have to pay taxes on it when you bring it into the state of VA.

Illinois, I know, doesn't have a personal property tax for cars.

It is all about where you register your vehicle, not where you buy it. If you buy the car out of state and register it in the state you live in you pay the tax when you register the vehicle. No way around that issue unless you move.

Don't know about US states, but the country of Andorra does not.

Texas has sales tax on autos but the yearly tax is usually less than $100, something between 50 and 80 dollars.

The problem with this is the state where you will get it plated will probably ask for the taxes at that time. Just to get it properly stickered in your state. Check with the DMV on this.

Oregon has no sales tax. However, when we moved to Texas they taxed us for bringing our vehicles to Texas. You might still have to pay tax to register in VA.

I lived in VA for several years. My property taxes halved when I moved to Texas
