i find it so difficult to understand suffering as a thing that an all powerful being would inflict on it's own creation. I'm sorry but i have a tendency to defend the weak.

the meek will inherit the earth?
how long do they have to wait? i feel a man with a conscience wrote that to make some sense out of suffering and justice. the bibl is man made.

They feel there is a higher power watching over them. I don't feel that way personally, but I don't care if someone else does.

Sometimes people feel like there is a hole in their heart and that nothing can fill it except for something that is metaphorical and something that cannot be explained, something that isn't physical or tangible.

It is comforting to some people that turn to religion because they understand that this life is always pending. The metaphorical clock doesn't stop for anybody. You are truely dying one minute at a time. This bothers people so they get into a school of thought which teaches things about what happen to you when you die. Therefore, while you are living you are also thinking about what will happen when you are not living. Some people make this their life and it is kinda morbid because it seems like they are just wating to die so that they can go to their place that they believe they will be after here.

Why indeed! Most have been brainwashed. Consider this for a minute - what if there were no humans on earth, either they didn't evolve or simply died out 50,000 years ago like many other species. Then who would have been thumping their bibles and qurans??? The earth and all the animals would be happily getting on with life, but humans wouldn't be around to invent religion. Of course religion is man-made because it means absolutely nothing to any other animal. My dog does not walk around thinking how blessed he is that god created him. Or worrying that he might be going to hell because he hasn't repented after chasing next door's cat. Religion? Don't make me laugh!

People are religious because they are taught to be religious. Through their family, through the Community, Media. It's everywhere in the news. It's been such a huge part of society that it's hard to get away from it. This mind set will be long continuing before it's dogma will die out as superfluous. Each religion has it's own set of semantics that separate people around the world. It would far suffice that people learn ethics, the universal laws and the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I think religion helps certain people in many ways :
1) They don't need to take responsibility for their doing, because God(or however you will call it) chooses for them
2) It helps a lot when you are alone or frustrated, because in your religious community you find always someone to talk to
3) It is better to belief in something than nothing
4) we all like believing that there is something higher than us(especially when life is pretty unfair to you), so that we have someone to blame

Because some people don't have faith in themselves and so find courage in religion , this is religions only good purpose and is why so many people recover from tragedy through religion , sometimes we need to believe that there is something better or some kind of purpose to our lives . religion gives us both these things and prevents us from surrendering to our own weaknesses .

Personally i believe that if i can't do it my self then god or no one else is going to do it for me .

When you truly feel the presents of God it is amazing. I suggest going on a church trip. I go on a mission trip every year with my church and each year i come back feeling great. I can truly feel the presents of God. Find a local church I promise there not all boring most have contemporary services which rock out. Its cool and a great way to meet new friends.
