My mom has already started talking about it...although i'm not anywhere close to ready for marriage. I think it's kind of sweet though.

Not necessarily. I do wish for my daughters to have a really nice wedding and everything they have dreamed for (within reason). Especially since I didn't get to have what I wanted, I had to do what the parents and in-laws wanted and what everyone else expected. What I wanted wasn't a huge fairy tale wedding at all. I just wanted a small intimate and private wedding reception, with live music and dancing and a nice meal with all of the people I love, not everyone that my parents knew. I just want my daughters to have what they want, not what they have to settle for.

I don't. My daughter is only 3 but I never dreamed of me having a wedding either. I think the money is better spent on the home and getting the marriage started out better financially instead of a stupid wedding.

I have been in 4 weddings in 4 years, including my own, and if and when my remaining unmarried sibling, my step-daughters, and my daughter get married, I hope they have small weddings or elope, considering how much work and money is put into an event that only lasts a few hours.

No - my mom told me to elope if I wanted to. I ended up having a small wedding - about 30 people. I hope my girls will save their money and spend it on something that lasts more than a day. I will actively discourage my girls from planning "fairy tale" weddings and I certainly won't pay for one!

Nope, I'm more concerned about paying for my daughter college at the moment. I would like her to have a small intimate wedding and a nice honey moon. Spend all that money on down payment on a new home!

Nope, mine surely didn't because we do not have the money. She also didn't see me as a "Fairy Tale" daughter so she definitely doesn't dream about it. It is sweet that your mom is into the idea. You've got a great mom!

No I never wanted a big wedding and only had a tiny one and that was at the registry office... My daughter may be different, she's only 8 and has never mentioned it, I'm happy whatever she wants to do and hopefully that will be to have a small wedding,

I never did really I left it up to the girls, I was amazed that my husband wanted it though for them. He and I had a big wedding and ours turned out to be just that my mother's idea of a nice wedding and NOT mine, I really was a shy girl and it was too much for me to handle, my pictures did not come out well and she and I did not understand each other through the whole thing. I tried hard with my girls but we had our share of problems too mainly with expense, but they had nice weddings and they enjoyed the attention, I on the other hand did not like the attention but that is just me.......

No, I will offer my daughter a wedding of her dreams or I will furnish her and her hubby's first house. It would be about the same amount of money anyways!
