I recommend AVG as an anti virus so best to stay with using it, although eTrust's 12 month free trial is excellent (I'm using it and am extremely impressed).
If you need other programs, go for Zone Alarm firewall, AVG anti spyware (formerly Ewido) and SpywareBlaster.
If you click on the names in that list I gave you and it will take you to the official download site.
Please ensure that you keep them all updated for full protection and check for any updates when you first download them.

AVG works pretty well. I've used Avast for a while and I've had no problems, and it's better looking than AVG
But, stick with AVG if you like it

Avast is better i ran avg for a bit got avast and it found stuff avg had let through....

I have found Avast to be perfect. I've been using it for 2 years now and have never had a problem.

For perfect protection for free, try Linux.You will also get an office package for free for it, so if it is a working computer, I'd strongly recommend it.
