I would suggest finding out what he was eating and stick with that or slowly switch him to something of your choosing.

My dog eats Eukanuba Medium Breed Adult Natural Lamb & Rice withthe occassional can of Eukanuba Canned Adult Small Breed Lamb & Rice Formula.
But thats what works best for his tummy, I try to stick with lamb and rice formulas and have to make sure that his dry food is small enough that he doesn't choke on it. I am hoping that Eukanuba comes out with a small breed natural but he's doing fine on the medium breed.

When it comes to your own dog, don't switch its food over night, whichever you change to you should introduce gradually to prevent a upset tummy.

Purina Puppy Chow is fine, puppies have been growing up on that for years. Don't fall into the trap of buying those expensive, veterinary recommended ones, the vets get a profit for selling that. And don't buy Iams, they do animal testing, it's very cruel what they were caught doing to dogs.

Meg's right. Nutro Max is one of the best foods out there right now. I have two dogs I put on it 6 months ago, and I can't believe the difference. Talk about a coat that shines!

We have a boxer and started her on Purina Puppy Chow. Once she got to about 10 months, we switched to Purina Heathly Morsels. She is perfectly healthy and is at an appropriate size for her age and breed.

Good Luck!

Nutro is one of the best. I feed Nutro natural choice. One of my puppies gets the sensitive stomach and one gets the lamb and rice. It is excellent food. My reccomendation is to stay away from grocery store brands. If you HAVE to buy your food at a grocery store or a walmart type store, then go with IAMS. :-) You get what you pay for.

Most of the vets I have been to recommend Nutro Max Puppy formula. There are others, but that is the one that was recommended to me by two different vets for two different puppies I had.

High quality dog foods like Eukanuba and Science Diet are best. They have higher quality ingredients and are more highly digestible = less poop and better nutrition.

Iams for puppies. I swear by that food, I think it is the most healthiest.
