Does it not say that Muslims should have nothing to do with Christians/Jews and they can get in trouble if they do have an association with them?

My Uncle is Muslim, and I am a Christian. I'm just wondering how that works. I read some of the Quran in High School and I remember it saying not so many nice things about how to treat Christians/Jews.

Allah or Jesus?

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers who represented the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths who explained their belief systems. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say.

The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam complete with a video. After the presentations time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that all of the Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and without hesitation he replied, "Non-believers!"

I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to heaven. Is that correct?"

The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes."

I then said, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Pat Robertson or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to heaven."

The Imam was speechless.

I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question . . . would you rather have your Allah who tell[s] you to kill me in order to go to heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and wants you to be with me?"

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Chuck Colson once told me something that has sustained me these 20 years of prison ministry. He said to me, "Rick, remember that the truth will prevail."

And it will!

1-Jihad is mistaken a lot if you read the Quran reread it or ask an imam or someone who knows Islam really well.

2- Quran doesn't say to treat other faiths harshly it just points out some bad qualities that humans have

3- There's always a good person and a bad person you can meet a good muslim and a bad muslim in my case I try to treat people equally I have many Christian and Jewish friends that care about me and I care about them to. It's a matter of respect, so it all depends on you wether to hate humans because of their choices or respect them.

My friend, I'm glad you asked my view on this. Being "hard hearted against Islam" is like being hard-hearted against a crazed grizzly bear. Historically, Islam has always been bloody, sadistic, vindictive, violent, and oppressive. Islam has historically served Satan, not God. No sane person is jealous of Muslims, who have no freedom, who go through life being told what to think and what to believe, who are sentenced to DEATH if they decide to leave Islam. Who could be jealous of someone who spends their entire life shackled in mind, body, and spirit? Open criticism and debate are necessary to preserve the truth in anything. Islam has never permitted open criticism, and that's why it's so twisted and distorted. If Muhammad can't stand up to open criticism, then he's a FALSE PROPHET. If Islam can't stand up to personal freedom, civil rights, and education for everyone, then it's a FALSE RELIGION. Thanks for asking!

Jews and Christians are commonly refered as "People of the Book" in most of places in Quran.

Quran do criticize them for certain bad qualities prevalent in them, like writing with their own hands and claiming this is from God, making forbidden which is actually not forbidden(also the reverse), hoarding wealth and not spending in path of God etc. These are bad qualities which when present in any religious group is bad. Maybe Quran is stating this so that Muslims do not repeat these.

Quran also says not all of them are similar
"Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book are a portion that stand (For the right): They rehearse the Signs of God all night long, and they prostrate themselves in adoration." Quran 3:113.

See another verse regarding 2 type of "people of the books" when dealing with others.
"Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a hoard of gold, will (readily) pay it back; others, who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless thou constantly stoodest demanding, because, they say, "there is no call on us (to keep faith) with these ignorant (Pagans)." but they tell a lie against God, and (well) they know it. " Quran 3: 75.

Jews are also called as "Bani Israel" meaning "Children of Israel". A verse regarding Bani Israel
" And We appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under Our command, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in Our Signs." Quran 32: 24.

General attitude towards all people of any religion is
60: 8. Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice."

Muslims are to deal with the rest of the world with justice and harmony. "Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error." -Quran 2:256

If people treat you equally then treat them equally, if they don't then don't associate with them. Ask a muslim, don't ask a non-muslim how a muslim is supposed to behave.

When a book is written by man and then said to be the actual word of God, then the followers are no better then the mischievious people who authored the book.

It states that the Muslim is to provide the heathen with ample time to convert to Islam - and if they refuse, kill them. That is what the Qu'ran says.
