How do you keep them soft longer? I don't put them in the fridge and within about 3 days parts of them are as hard as a rock.

Yes, the freezer is the best place for breads. Somehow it gets dried up in the fridge but in the freezer it stays fresh and it doesn't take long to get it defrosted. I have 3 or 4 different breads like dinner rolls, hot dog buns and sliced ones at each time and living alone, the freezer helps.

I've heard about putting an apple slice in the sealed bag, and put that in the fridge. Never tried it though.

They are not sealed properly. I purchased a seal tight container for my bread and buns. It helps keep them fresher longer. Containers are cheap, and it doesn't take long for the fresh bread to pay for itself.

Leave them on the counter like you have been doing. Steam them for 3-5 minutes when you want to eat them and they will be perfect. You can also boil the frankfurters in a pot of boiling water while you're at it!

One more thing, keep them away from High heat, such as near a stove! or they dry out faster while other things cook!
