Yup, there is. Religion and morality are certainly not intertwined, regardless of what some people might think. If it were, then we atheists would undoubtedly be a bunch of murdering, lustful, drug-dealing scum, wouldn't we? We're obviously not, no more than Christians are automatically decent people because they fear God's wrath.

But if that doesn't convince you, then let me allow Webster to do the talking...

Morality: n, 1. rightness or wrongness, as of an action. 2. right or moral conduct. 3. moral principles.

As you can see, no mention of religion whatsoever. And for further proof...

Religion: n, from the Latin, religio, holiness. 1. belief in and worship of God or gods. 2. a specific system of belief, worship, etc., often involving a code of ethics.

No mention of morality. So there you have it. The difference. Religion is a belief and worship system, where Morality is simply acting out of right or wrong.

Oh heck yeah!

Morality is about virtuous conduct; but 'virtue' can be many different things to different people. Most people can agree that certain behaviors are necessary for civilization to exist peaceably, like not killing each other or taking each other's things. Morals can be tested in the world as to their effectiveness of right and wrong.

Religion is a structure people invented to guide themselves toward a certain spiritual state. The verity of the religion depends entirely on the verity of the theory of the spiritual realm on which it is based. Since there is currently no way to study the spiritual in-depth, this has to be taken almost entirely on faith.

So you can have good morals and no religion or lots of religion and poor morals, or good both or bad both.

Yes, a very big difference. Morality grows out of religion (mostly). Hence morality is viewed in different terms in different cultures, However in recent times, with modern communication, a world view of morality is beginning too emmerge. Morality cannot be an alternative to belief in a faith. Which should entail a personal experience of God.

Religion has nothing to do with morality. Morality is a kind of code of conduct that ALL social animals live by. It allows groups to co-exist for the great good, and helps the species survive.
Religion is a creation of man.

Some people base their morality on their religion....
Some don't.

Would there be such a thing as morality, do you think, if there had never been such a thing as religion?
Why are men "moral" anyhow? Is it a natural response?
Is there some value to moral behavior that helps the species survive? Are moral people more likely to live to pass their morality on down to their offspring?
In short, can we explain moral behavior from a scientific standpoint?

Of course religion has nothing to do with morality. Many would claim they do but it is only their version of morality which could mean anything

Yes...

Morality is good, we learn it when we are young to be good girls & boys.. But Religion is beleif, faith.. something that can make me hang around when everything else falls away! Morality would not!

Religion gives me strength when I feel so weak.,

Religion gives me peace of mind & heart..

Religion protect me from falling in deppression, hopelessness, etc

Religion gives me a reason to continue living when I can;t find one!

So so many things... I can;t express them all, but to tell you one thing, If it wasn;t for Jesus, I won;t have servived for today!!

Morality : That's something every has, regardless weather they use it or not.

Religion : That's something another human says you should do by posing as a messenger from something called god - Like give your daughter to rapists so a middle aged man can walk free without having his sh1t pushed back in (the bible, its fu*ked).
