Don't hit the cat...our cat did the same thing when he was a kitten, the vet told us when he bites to grab him by the scruff of the neck and very firmly say NO BITING! Then push him away and do not give attention for a while. It worked.

I agree with the squirting water trick- it does wonders:) And it doesn't hurt them. You should probably take the opportunity to teach it the word "no" at the same time. We used a water squirter on our cat that would climb your leg like a tree if you didn't feed her quick enough- she got the picture. I would also consider trying to keep them seperate for a while. Either the cat is playing, or he's thinking- "I'll get her before she gets me". Make sure that your daughter doesn't handle kitty too roughly, and make sure that the kitten knows that biting = no playing. If the cat is only playing but biting, pick it up and move it away from where you are. It might take a bit of perseverance, but eventually your cat will get the idea that if he bites he gets rejected. Good Luck with your new kitty

A thump on the nose will sometimes work. Is he biting hard? Does he break skin? If not, it's a cats way to play. Watch them in a litter, it's what they do. They bite at each other. They don't understand that our hides aren't as thick as their's, and we don't have the fur. So, if that's the case he'll outgrow it (will still bite from time to time when very playful, but not a regular occurance). Last option, he's still a kitten. Maybe he's trying to shed his baby teeth.

Spray it with a water bottle every time it does something bad. It has to be at the time the offensive act is committed. Cats hate water and this will help teach it not to do those things.
Good luck!

My grandmother use to keep a spray bottle filled with water to shoot the cat every time he has naughty. Not saying its the best way but it sure as hell did get results. That cat would see us go for the bottle and he would take off :-))))

He wants to play with you. male cats do not really like you to pick them up too much. Just play with him.
If it persists everytime he bits you hit him on his nose and yell at him for doing it. He will stop eventually.
That is how i got my cat from sleeping on my bed.

i had a kitten that did the same thing. he only did it to me and our dog. the vet told me that he sees me as prey because he was at the age for learning to hunt. i told him "no" and tapped him on the nose. he finally stopped doing it but he still goes after the dog once in a while. hes just playing and they are real "buddies". just be patient.

Buy a spray bottle. When he bites, squirt the little devil, it won't take long for it to catch on.
