NO!

The insurance contract stipulates that the insured must have an insurable interest in the vehicle. If you mom doesn't not have a financial interest in the vehicle, she can not insure it.

That said, there are ways around it. You can have a lease between the two of you for $1 and it transfer the responsiblity to your mom to insure the vehicle.

A insurance policy is rated by the drivers and the vehicles. Also by where you live. Both the company I work for and my own insurance provider work in this manner as I am about to describe. The vehicle and the drivers must reside in the same household. So if you live in the same household, then yes you can be put on her policy. But you would be placed as a AI "added interest" on your vehicle. So that if anything were to happen and your car was damaged, the check would go into, your name, your mothers name, and the garage whom fixed it as well as the Leinholders(finance company). If you were to live in another household, and a accident occurred that you caused, the insurance company would or could deny the claim under misrepresentation.

Her name would have to be on the title of the vehicle for her to insure it in her name. Your name can still be on the title along with hers. It comes down to the fact that you can't insure something that you don't own. And if her name isn't on the title she has no ownership of the vehicle.

You cannot insure a vehicle you don't own. People try to do it, people succeed sometimes, but officially, if you have no insurable interest in the car (ownership or co-ownership or you are the finance company) then you cannot get it insured in your name.

Yes, My nephew vehicle insurance was under my name and we lived in the same home and address-I was informed that he could use our p.o. box as an address and not the same as ours this way in case of an emergency or if his car broke down he could use mine without a problem-but most insurance companies as well as states have different laws.

Yes, as I have my sons vehicles under my wifes and my policy, as he just turned 25. Under 25, you get a better rate if you have your insurance under your parents policy. Just to be safe and before you do, simply ask the insurance agent how much your policy would cost by placing it in your parents policy. If you are under 25, it will save you money, and if you are a female under 25 it will be less, as females have according to the insurance industry are better drivers.

the main question here should be do you still live at home, in your mothers household? if so then some companies will
allow it, if not then you will have to get you own insurance
