I am married to an American. I am British. We lived in the U.K for two years and now we waiting to see if my application for residency is approved. My husband does not quite meet the financial requirements as my sponsor. Do you think they can refuse me residency and deport me?

I came here perfectly legally. We are not doing anything wrong but sadly we are just not able to earn the money that they state is neccessary. I am concerned simply because we love each other very much and are very close it would be horrible for us to be apart.

What anyone thinks is beside the point in your situation. You need to get the answers from the Immigration authorities. If you don't meet all the guidelines and regulations, I don't think you'll be deported, necessarily, but you may be required to fulfill those obligations, and will be given time to do so. I'm just guessing, because I'm not familiar with all the rules that govern residency and citizenship. But check with the proper authorities if you want to know what your rights are. Good luck!

You are a British citizen. You are not an American citizen. This is America. Yes, they can deport you. The same goes for your husband in the UK. They could deport him also if they wanted. We are not under a one world government, yet. So each country has sovereignty over their own soil.

yes, they could. no offense but i am married to a canadian i moved there but inquired with immg in the us to see what i would have to make to sponsor him. i have one child still at home the income was not that high.

i had to earn 21000 or i could say earn 18,000 usd and then have the rest in assets ie savings, retirement. tell him to go get another job.

have seen about getting a work permit and staying in the us that way. www.uscis.gov

Can they - I don't know. Should they? Good question.

When I look and see the Muslim immigration to France, Germany and the Netherlands today and the violence that is following it - I would like to see the US stop all immigration for a while. Sorry....

If you are white, why even tell anyone that you are an immigrant? Just blend in.
