We are all fleshy and earthly but we can make progress away from these things through Christ. If you want Jesus you already have him and overcoming vices comes with your desire to overcome them in time. Human abstinence can only take you physically away from the vice but not emotionally or spiritually; that takes reliance on Christ and his showing you TRUTH about your vice and why you rely on it (it's hardly ever desire for the vice itself). True freedom is effortless and comes when your faith in Christ puts his spirit within you and only Truth reigns. It's a lifetime goal.

In order to learn to live spiritually (as you say) find a church that really teaches the Bible and become a member, attending service and learning what the Bible has to say about how you should live and what you can expect from God if you live life His way!

You have to make a choice. It's one or the other... not both. Find a good church home and Bible study and surround yourself with other people on the path to rightousness. You may lose some "friends" but if they were your friends they would want you to get your spiritual self together. Just cut the negative people out of your life and keep true Christians around you.
