Go talk to a stylist. They can see which direction your hair grows and give you the correct books with styles that will work for you.

Look at the Matrix website ( Matrix the hair products of course) it shows like a hundred from short to long, very stylish and modern so you´ll have an idea, it also tells you how to make the hairstyle, the products that you need to use. Sorry but the link didn't work but try to google it. ;)

I certainly have hair fairly resembling this! I have been given a super form of layers put in so as that it provides my hair the visual attraction of being thicker with greater volume.
