I went to the doctor yesterday suffering from severe pain down my right leg , they took x-rays and said my 3rd and 4th vertibrae was pressing on my sciatic nerve causing the pain he prescribed supeudol pain killers and anti inflamatory. What causes it exactly ? He said its wear and tear . Has anyone else had this problem ?

It's actually the disc between the 3rd and 4th vertabrae that is pressing on your nerve. The disc is like a balloon full of water ... when you squeeze one end the balloon bulges at the other end. In this case bulging out the back and pressing on the nerve.
It's mostly caused by wear and tear over the years or if you are prone to osteoarthritis. Anti-inflammatorys will take care of the minor cases and usually some physio therapy. In major cases surgery is required to correct it. Ask for a CT to see how bad it is ...

I'm sorry to learn of the anguish you are experiencing....I, too, manage slight to severe again ache - relying at the day - and, even though, my agony is among T11, T12 & L1 vertebrae (collapsed & disintegrating) - I'd like to mention I realize what you are going via, however I do not and I'm no longer precisely certain what a "Bulging" disk/vertebrae is...(??) (If you might give an explanation for it, that might be exceptional! If no longer, no issues!) You've written that you just figure out plenty...And understanding is exceptional, however... May I recommend a couple of pilates or yoga categories (??) - They each furnish great middle coaching and stretching tactics that can (inside a couple of consistent consultation) help in easing the ache you enjoy.... I apologise for no longer having any expertise on steroid injections, however via beyond enjoy I've learned that ache killers and such are simply bandaid answers to the challenge. had the same problem, but went to a chiropractor; after 3 adjustments the pain was gone; caused by wear and tear, poor shoes (no support); muscle weakness

aka sciatica. Common depending on how old you are. The discs between the vertebrae begin to collapse, and the nerve root is compressed or irritatted.

yes...due to a back injury. The nerves get damaged and need time to repair...if they are going to repair that is.
