People should know to take advice received here with a grain of salt, but with that said, many people share the same problems, and I see nothing wrong with sharing the advice you've received.

I'm not a doctor. I'm an RN. I usually end all of my answers with the admonition to contact their own doctor. No doctor can give absolute advice on a forum like this without thoroughly examining a patient. It is the same with RNs. However, we can offer good sound nutritional advice in general based on our education and training. Many people are simply looking for information on general health prevention advice. It is no different than talking with someone on the street who asks you a medical question. I don't give orders or prescribe medication. I merely offer a few suggestions and recommend the person ask their own doctor. So I see no need to ban medical questions, any more than we should ban all mechanical questions about cars because we are not licensed mechanics.

No because there are alot of RN's on this site like me, although I'm not a doctor, I have vast medical knowledge and can answer most medical questions accurately. There are many times when people need free medical advice, it can take a month to get in the doctor's office sometimes.

Well if someone was asking for an actual diagnosis then sure, but since it is just peoples opinion on something no. I don't think I have seen anyone say this is what you have or whatever, it is always sounds like it could be this or that and you should see a doctor. At least the questions and answers I have looked at.

No. Anyone that takes the advice on answers does so at their own risk. As a nurse I try to always refer people back to their doctors. Sometimes people feel foolish talking to their doctors and hearing other peoples experiences helps them in talking to the doctor. It's like asking a friend what did you do?

No, I think that most people asking medical questions here realize that we are not all doctors. But, when you are sick, what we are seeking is reassurance and comfort from connecting with others. For that reason, we should not ban medical questions, because, for some people, this is the only connection people have with the outside world.

No - because the people might be looking for someone with the same condition and ways they can treat it. If it is a question about "Should I go to the emergency room or not" then yes, they should be banned.

Most people on here who give medical advice might share their experience, but almost always add, you need to see a doctor. It's akin to going up and asking your mom or your buddy, "does this look infected?" You're just asking for initial advice, but no one here can diagnose or treat anyone. It's a free board.

Hey if you're silly enough to want to post a medical question on here then that's up to you, now if you trust the advice given you're definitely taking you're life into your hands, should they be banned no not at all.

not really. i mean if everyone were to take the answers of a stranger on the net rather than go to the doctor then they have problems!
most of the questions are stupid anyway and are asked by inquisitive little 12 year old boys becuse they cant watch porn without daddys credit card!

NO

People are able to give advice on conditions they have experience of, and this advice of living with something is sometimes better than the purely medical advice a Dr will give
