If a person were to come to you and ask; "If I am homosexual, can I receive the Kingdom of God", what is your response? The bible seems to contradict practicing homosexuality.
Romans 1:26,27 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.
Verse 32; Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them.
Also, I found 1 Cor 6:9-11, ...will not inherit the kingdom. Also, it says you have to give up those practices.
So, if you're saying yes they will and the bible says no they won't...who is right?

What's the point of have a Bishop or Pastor who is living in unrepentant sin? What kind of example does that set for the congregation? Will we have womanizer pastors next? Will child molesters get promoted to Bishop even though they are proud and open about their sexual preference (usually they get arrested & defrocked for this, not promoted)?
Why are people Christian if they do not believe in the Bible? It doesn't really make sense to me.

How can the pastor above me claim that Jesus never preached on Hell? Jesus talked more about Hell than he did about Heaven, if you count the passages (see the excerpt from the Sermon on the Mount, below).
And going back to the original Greek should confirm that the apostle Paul condemed same sex attraction, and that Jesus defined marriage as being between a male and a female (Matthew 19) because that was God's original intent.

27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Well, as an ordained minister in two chruches, I have done some research on this as well. The thing you have to remember is that the Bible has been translated many times. Man has changed the words so many times that it's not even funny. Go back to the original greek and hebrew for the answers. That's the best way to learn. the truth is when they refeered to sodomy, they were talking about a lot of different things and a lot of perversions, not exclusivily homosexuality.
Sodam and Gamorrah was destroyed because of perversions. THey were child molesters, having sex with animals, prostitution, incest, and other nasty things. Read again, please.
God is a god of love, I find it hard to believe that a lot of people, epscially good people, are going to hell. Jesus didn't really preach about hell, and I won't either. Also, I know plenty of gay people who are better Chirsitans than most on this site.
Its' very easy to use parts of the bible, take them out of context and twist them to fit your own propaganda. It's also very dangerous. The KKK did that.
I realize that this isn't going to change the mind of a small minded person, but I ask that you at least think about it and read, I mean really read. This is a book about love, forgivness and tolerence. Think about the people Jesus was hanging out with. Religion isn't about damming others. It's about love and acceptance, at least its suppose to be. Some people have lost their way. It's sad really.

It is interesting that the bible can be interpreted so widely based on the same reading. This is very clearly evident based on this question and some of the answers provided. If this is the case, what use do scriptures have? Do any words have any meaning.
I believe they do especially those from God. Interpretation of scripture must also be done by the spirit as its writing was.
In answer to the question and to some of the responses. God did make all of us, however, he expects people to live his commandments. We are all sinners, but through repentance we can all be forgiven through Christ's atonement.

I believe the standard of attaining true salvation is the same for EACH of us, whether a person is a homosexual, a murderer, a thief, a liar, a child molester, an adulterer, etc.: we must REPENT of our sins, take up our cross and follow after Him. Anyone who says they repent, yet remains an active sinner, hasn't attained salvation. These folks are "thorny ground" hearers: the temptations of the world have prevented their faith from taking root and growing.
This same process of repentance and forgiveness by grace has been done each and every day since Jesus Christ announced He is the Messiah. It's not any different today than it was 2,009 years ago, when He performed His first miracle. We only deceive ourselves when we say our concerns are more complex today then in past times.
Peace.
EDIT: as far as churches approving actively gay clergy as bishops, etc., I view this as an example of end times apostacy.

It is not a matter of the person. It is a matter of the sin. Homosexuality is a lifestyle sin. this means that those living a life of sin and have not accepted Christ as their savior will not inherit the kingdom of God.
In Romans 1:26,27 God gave them over to their own passions. This means that God had given them many many chances to change and eventually he just gave up on them and quit trying to get them to see the truth.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be on them.

The underlying question is who do you believe. God or Man.
If you believe God then God tells us that homosexuality is wrong. It's the only sin in which God destroyed an entire city. That's how much he hates this sin.
Man believes if genetic. I argue this is an incorrect statement because there are no other animals on planet earth that are homosexuals. NONE not one.
What's important is how your treat people who believe they are homosexual.
I will get flack over this but it's the same with politics. If you make a stand you will make someone you know very angry. I think they will get over it..... eventually ... if they are a true friend....

the bible can and has been twisted to justify anything from slavery to genocide; bigotry is nothing new.
worry rather about the spirit of what it should be about: love and compassion for humanity.
