I have been in dance for three weeks now and after it's over my heart is racing and I am sweating bullets. I haven't really changed my eating habits but other people have noticed my stomach and face look a little thinner and I can even feel my pants aren't as tight around my waist anymore. However I 've been weighing myself and the scale is still the same as it was weeks ago. How is this possible or do I have a broken scale?

It's quite possible. If you are exercising then you are building muscle and burning fat. Muscle is more dense than fat, so you can easily shrink while remaining the same weight or even gaining.

This is one reason why it's more important to concentrate on being fit and healthy that worry about the number on the scale.

Your scale is probably broken, but also don't forget. Your body is replacing fat for muscle so some of that could be muscle as well. Get a new scale, if it tells you the same, I'd guess you are just gaining tons of muscle that is replacing those pounds you are loosing. I dance too, and thats what it does with me. But in the first few weeks, I still lost some weight.

Lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks??

There are some websites on the Internet, which promise you that you are going to lose 10 pounds in every 2 weeks. If you are good in math you will find that keeping these stats in mind, 260 pounds in a year. Losing 260 pounds is the figure, which is unbelievable and unexpected.

This kind of claims are planned just to cause clients to make impulsive decisions. When you gain weight, did you gained around 50 minds in two months? Certainly not. We gain weight in weight in small parts, which add up to our weight. This keeps on increasing with time.

I think you get what I mean to say. We normally gain weight in grams like 65 gram per week. With this stat you are going to gain around 7 pounds at the end of year.

This weight is so slow that you cannot measure it weekly. But in fur years you are going to gain around 28 pounds.

So how can you expect this weight to go in few days? You are going to lose the way you have gained it. So it will take time to lose weight. So you have to start losing weight systematically. You can lose weight by developing the good eating habits in you and nutritious foods.

Your scale is not broken. I lost a whole dress size by jogging but the scale showed I put on 1 pound.

Muscle weights more than fat, so you are probably toning up and losing FAT, but gaining muscle. A lot of people freak out when they start exercising because they notice weight gain: it's all muscle gain. Good for you for getting active!!! =)

Don't go by the scale, they are awful invention: go by how you FEEL.

A 1lb of fat and a 1lb a muscle are the same, you are just exchanging fat for muscle so you won't see much difference on the scale. But keep it up you burn more fat while idle with more muscle than with fat, your metabolism will be more active and I'm sure it feels great to have looser pants, so congrats!!!!

Fat and water take up more space than muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so it is very possible. You may even gain weight because of it. Inches lost are more visible and substantial.
