Yes, it is. So long as you have an open and trusting "relationship" with this person. Your expectations must be well communicated from the get-go. Boundaries must be established, and you must trust eachother enough to disclose when the situation changes.
I have been in platonic relationships that involved sex, where it was agreed upon that as soon as he or myself became emotionally or physically involved with somebody else, that we would cease our activities.
Here's the warning though. It can become difficult over time to sustain a physical relationship with a person without becoming emotionally attached. Both parties need to be able to completely segregate emotional experience from sexual experience in order for the "relationship" to be successful.
Keep in mind, these types of relationships are very rarely permanant. Few people can live without emotional connection, and will seek a more meaningful relationship, with either you or somebody else, in the end.

Not likely, but I suppose it's possible, but isn't the point of a friend with benefits to hold you over until you meet the next person your going to pursue a relationship with? How could you still play the field and be monogamous at the same time? If you expect monogamy in those situations, then don't have that kind of a relationship with someone. Save it for somebody you feel is worthy of you. All of you, not just the sexual you.

No because then it would be called a relationship. I mean I guess in certain situations it could possibly happen for instance, if somebody really has a long long work schedule and doesnt have time for a relationship and just calls a certain somebody once in a while for sex, then yes maybe. But that would also mean that the person he/she calls for sex would not be with anybody else either, and that is unlikely because most people need more than sex in a relationship. So I would have to go back and say NO. Most likely not.

Yes- as long as both people agree that there is no relationship, and no other "friends" that have the same benefits
In fact I am in one now- We all have "urges" and I go to my son's father- we both work alot and spend a ton of time with our son- so it's easy for us to "meet" after our son is asleep- whether he come to my house and we close the door, or if my son is at his house (his parents are there with our son) and we meet somewhere for some spur of the moment fun.
We have an agreement that if either of us meets someone, or starts having other "friends" it is over between us.
We also know that nothing is going to come out of it, such as no relationship and such.
BUT it is hard to find a person that is willing to do it with just one person- especially if you have one that is in love with the other, or one that is just a player.
Good luck and have fun!

Yes, definitely. But having a sex partner is still a relationship.

It is possible if that is what you both want. I've actually had those before. I did spend time with them outside of the bedroom too though. If I wanted to go to a movie I would call my friend with benefits. Then we would do it for hours!! Hehe

you and the person would have to establish that agreement....from jump....make it understanding that they can date other people but when it comes to sex its exculsively between the two of you. Make is be known the keeping the sex exculsive is more safe anyway.....(STDs). When one person feels differently about the arrangement, let the other one know, so that no one is out the loop.
