asked to be removed from the call lists at the company or representative of the company. if they are jerks call the people they represent and raise hell. the get your telephone number on the national do not call list and a state one if you have one in your state. i stated getting annoying sales calls from people whoo wanted to sell me digital satellite tv/radio at home. this started the day i got a phone installed for my wife who was home with our brand new daughter. they called every day i found out it was companies that sold the service but were subcontractors from out of state that had people that did it here so i asked to be removed and they were hardcore hanging up on me and being jerks. i called the company whose products they sold (dishnetwork) told them they should make sure thier subs stopped this and assured them that if i did get a satellite tv deal i would choose any service but thiers citing that i wouldnt tolerate business practices like that. if thats how they treated the potential customers imagine the way they must be once you get involved with equipment and billing. good luck. i ended up scrapping the phone and sticking with the cell mode. i still keep a old style phone. the 8 dollar model from wal mart. in case of emergemcy i can make the phone work and the power for the phone is in the phone line. todays phones require power from the wall a/c but thats not there when power fails. but the phone still works if you keep an old style phone. safe

What is TPS?
The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a central opt out register whereby individuals can register their wish not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls. It is a legal requirement that companies do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS.
The original legislation was introduced in May 1999. It has subsequently been updated and now the relevant legislation is the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
Who can register?
The term individual includes consumers at their residential address, sole traders and, except in Scotland, partnerships.
How long will it take to become effective?
Once a number has been registered it will become effective in 28 days.
Is there any charge for registering?
No, it's free to register on the TPS.
Who pays for TPS?
No money is received from the Government to run the Service, the direct marketing industry pays for it.

YOU MUST BE ON A MAILING LIST SOMEWHERE. Try registering with the telephone preference service asap as it takes 28 days to be activated. The number is in the front or back of the bt phone book.

I'm sorry, I'll stop calling.
Also, as previously advised, use the BT Preference number listed above, it works a treat, although some of the call centres abroad can take a little longer to stop.
In the meantime, why not have a bit of fun when they call. I was once called by a mobile company wishing to sell a phone to my partner. I told them she had died that week and I was in the middle of making funeral arrangements, he then tried to sell me a contract!!!!

I have BT line. I had a word with the BT customer service. Apparently they have a system of blocking the telesales people. So now I don't get any more calls.

Phone BT and have them stop these calls it takes a few days and they send out a letter to say they have been stoped. I did it and have not had a single call since.

Dont answer the call, even if pick up the call speak in a rude manner so that they never call again. Foremost is never give your cell number to everybody like when you fill application forms, memos, etc

either scream at them,
or better still for the one who aren't actually on the end of the phone, press # 6 or 7 times as fast as you can, it scrabbles their system and should wipe you off their list!
If all else fails change your number
