I would not suggest re-dying your hair, it can really do a ton of damage. If you can stick it out and be patient, the near-black will eventually fade into a brunette. It will gradually happen over the course of a few weeks. Whenever you change to a darker color, the end result will usually be a few shades darker than intended. If you really can't wait for your color to fade, then I would suggest going to a salon and getting your hair professionally stripped, although it's not the best, it can be a quick fix. Until then, don't be shy, be confident about your "black" hair! The more you like it, the more everyone else likes it.

You will need to go to hair salon and have it professionally lightened as the only way you can lighten colored hair is by bleaching it and if you do that chances are its going to come out a brassy blond color. I have been coloring my hair for 7 years now and made the same mistake once. If you try to put color over color to lighten it, its just going to give you a calico look meaning you are going to have dark hair still and other blotches of color mixed in. So, you need to go to a professional and have them do it. IF you do not want to pay the extra money go to a beauty college they do that stuff at a discounted price.

I find that dark colors fade quickly. In a week, it'll probably look a lot lighter. I would be careful about trying to artificially lighten it as your hair will be damaged from all of the dye-ing. If worst comes to worst you can go to a salon and ask to have the new color stripped....but still you risk damage to your hair.

wash your hair really really well (several times) this will make sure ALL they stuff is out so you can really see what you are working with., if its still too dark you will have to wait about 4-6 weeks before you lighten it or it will erally damage your hair. I would put some honey blonde highlights in it

Use Prell shampoo. It's kinda harsh, but will help to strip the hair of the color faster. Also, because you just died it, use a glaze in your hair that has copper or golden undertones. It will help bring out the highlights in your hair which will lighten over time. Believe me I understand!

The only way to lighten it is bleach.
I was going to type out instructions for you on what kind of bleach, what kind of color, etc etc (I used to be a hairdresser)and then I decided you're probably better off waiting until you can get to a hairdresser to fix it for you. Bleach is obviously harsh on the hair, and if you don't know what you're doing, you run the risk of making your hair situation worse than it was before. Good luck. : )

Use a straw hat and get some lemon juice.. Sit in the sun, and apply it... Kinda like bleach but less toxic. Then, if it is too light, lightly boil coffee, and use a LITTLE and it should be the perfect color.

Buy a clarifying shampoo, I like the one that you can buy @ Sally Beauty Supply, the brand is called Beyond Zone and the shampoo is green ( I dont remember what it is called but Sally's will know what you are talking about) but any clarifying shampoo will work.
Apply it all to your DRY hair and let it set fora bit. Then wash it out. You can repeat as many times as you need, just remember to condition after wards!

Medium brown always does that. You need to go half a shade lighter then the shade you want. You could go to the salon and either have them remove the color or have them dye it professionally.
