The death toll for both the Iraqis and the US troops continuing to rise what is happenning out there? Theses are real people with real loving caring families behind them worrying about them, not just statistics or numbers! We don't seem to have any overall objective. Bush is confused himself saying that he's now "changing tactics". What were the tactics in the first place? What he tells us and what the facts tell us seem to be 2 different things. Surely we can't just continue like this, can we? Many of the troops are now themselevs asking to be bought home. If thats the case that just tells you how despearate the situation is getting!

The US is heading for defeat and embarrassment. The simple fact is that the guerilla war always favours the guerillas. It doesn't matter how many Cruise missiles you have because in this type of war you simply don't know who your enemy is.

I lived and grew up with the "troubles" in N. Ireland. It was essentially a guerilla war. You socialised with people who could have been nationalist or loyalist paramilitaries. You simply didn't know. When you don't know who the enemy is then you can't fight them effectively. The war in N. Ireland cost around 3600 lives and the British army were fought to a stalemate by less radical people than those in Iraq. The fact that in Iraq, the people are more radical and more extreme in their methods makes me believe that the US will lose.

Let me say that I believe in the war and its aims. There is a real truth that has to be understood. IN WAR PEOPLE DIE!. In this case its the price we pay of trying to create stability in the middle east/Arabian gulf area... If the civilian deaths were directly attributable to our troops firing on them , then I would be appalled and I would be first to be shouting from the highest mount that the war is wrong!. However those civilians are being killed by their own people in an insurgency that is trying to destabilise the whole area which if went unchecked would eventually spread to other neighbouring counties ultimately threatening the flow of oil though the gulf and most likely cut off oil supplies to the great Satan! and the rest of the world. The troop deaths are regrettable and are the price we pay for wanting others to have the same freedoms that we enjoy!. I suspect if you could go back to the American war of independence and ask the irregular soldiers of George Washington, whether the deaths of so many of their friends in the fight against the British every last one would say yes .. what ever the cost . we must gain our freedom from oppression.. The king George's Army would no doubt be saying we have to stay until the job is done! no mater what the cost!.. We all know how that war ended and its directly due to that war that Americans enjoy the freedoms That they have.. Iraq will eventually calm down, the insurgents think they can win by attrition of American public opinion in much the same way has the in the ending of the Vietnam war , This time however there is far more at stake than smelly jungles and rice paddies and Americans should stand firmly behind their troops no matter how depressing the news from the front!.

Iraq is a waste if time, just like Vietnam, war with Iraq was not necessary and lives are being lost through stupid decisions, more lives will continue to be lost but you can't blme the Iraqis for fighting back, I'd fight back if some far away country blanket bombed my cities and took control. More death will come, not only for the US soldiers though remember that. Blair sent our guys in aswell because he's a N.ob

We are heading into a mess which is getting harder to get back out of every day! God only knows what the tactics were when we originally planned this, it seems the general view was that the Iraqi people would be so grateful to be rid of Saddam that they would become die-hard Bush and America fans overnight, and the war would simply end!

The situation is serious, but I wouldn't consider it desperate. Bush does need to change tactics, because what we've been doing up to this point just isn't working... however, we can't pull out of Iraq now that we're there. Tensions will boil over and the violence will get worse within Iraq - not too mention the terror levels in the US will undoubtedly sky rocket. I think one of the best courses of action Bush could take right now is to fire Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld.

What are you talking about? The "get 'em all" strategy that W has for the Iraq war is totally working out! I'm an active duty soldier currently deployed in Iraq, and let me tell you, by my count we must have...uh, three insurgents left to kill. 'Cause invading a country that doesn't want our help and starting a war there would never inspire new people to violence, nooooo. That intel report that says terror is worse than it has ever been? Clearly we're not "interpreting" that report correctly. Highest number of US casualties in a 1-year period right now? Just us soldiers being careless, no doubt. No, sticking it out in a country that doesn't want our interference and trapsing on someone else's holy land is clearly the best solution for everyone.

We all know why the US went to Iraq, nothing to do with Islam or terrorism, OIL!!! That's why so many soldiers will keep dying. Forget abot the Iraqi people it dosen't matter how many of them are killed. If you want the price of oil to remain low seeing as how the US consumes the bulk of the world's reserves it's gonna cost something, and we the rich would rather pay for it with someone else's life than our own money!

Consider how the face of radical islamic terrorism has evolved over the last 50 years. Now, imagine left unchecked how it will further evolve in another 50. Do you really not want to take some sort of action to protect your children and grandchildren for what may come? You may disagree with the reasons we are there in Iraq but the fact of the matter is, we have taken the fight to their soil, instead of waiting for them to take it to ours (again!).

Bush doesn't care a damn about human lives, He isn't on the front fighting, the troops are and he doesn't care how many die for his cause. yes countless numbers of lives of our troops have been lost and more even as I speak. Where are the WMD that was the cause for this war?

Did anyone ever stop and think that we're getting closer to the big-wigs and that's why there's more deaths? They're heavily guarded and always on the move. Freedom is NOT without cost. It's unfortunate that people have to die but, that's war.
