If Mexicans come here to "do the jobs that Americans won't do"?

Then why does the Mexican government have a guest worker program for 40,000 Guatemalans? The Mexican government states that Mexicans won't do the jobs that Guatemalans will do and that Mexicans are unreliable. How do you answer this?

I saw that broadcast also and was amazed to hear that and coming from the Representatives of the Mexican government.So unless they are lying on their own country its true..They are on a guest worker program and are working in the building trades.They do stay in Mexico until the projects they are working on are completed.
It is insane to think that people still propagate that same BS that Mexicans do the jobs Americans wont do.Its a lie and its gotten far too much mileage.here on this forum and in the public.The illegal will do any job he gets paid for,just like the legal American worker will.Their needs and standard of living differ so the legal American worker must make more money than the illega to have a normal life.We will not live 14/15 to a one bedroom apartment,we have a higher standard of life.The Mexican government should be making remittances to the American people for the unpaid taxes on the $ 45 billion that the illegal sends back to Mexico tax free.....Just insanity

You are passing judgment on a whole race based on "myths" about Mexicans being lazy. I would like to see half of the people who have answered this questions work under the conditions that some of these immigrants do. I am not saying just Mexicans, there are many other nationality's that are out there doing jobs that yes some "Americans" wont do. Many people talk just to talk, they have never seen both sides of the story. Many go by what they see on TV. How many of you can actually say that you have worked in a field picking any type of fruit, or in a factory with no air conditioning for eight hours with only a half hour break. Don't judge any one until you have walked a mile in their shoes. And the whole welfare issue, hello what about all those drug addicts that are on welfare? Or those women who have all these kids and are on welfare? Guess what, they are not all Mexican, there are white females on welfare, there are white people out there that work the system to their advantage. So before anyone passes judgment on anyone, Mexican, white or not... Take a deeper look at their lives.

I'm not too sure that they "come to do the jobs americans won't do". More like they come here because they will make more money than they will at home. The thing is that US companies hire them first because they will work for less wages than we will. My guess (and I could be wrong) is that Guatemala pays even less than Mexico, so the people migrate to more money. Or it could just be that they want to get out of their country. Everyone may think that they are too good for some jobs. Or maybe those people in Mexico that say this about Guatemala really wouldn't lower themselves to do some jobs, as Mexican's who do not make as much are "forced" to.

Yes indeed I've heard that, and these Guatemalans don't have a hope in hell of getting a "path to citizenship" in Mexico either ...

The myth about hard working Mexicans is just that .. a myth ... I live in an area with plenty of Mexicans, legal and illegal, and apart from seemingly having the same work ethic as Americans by and large, what they DON'T seem to have is knowledge of what they're doing ... I have seen them do plumbing without being able to fit one pipe into another, house painting which involves painting the windows shut, landscaping which involves butchering trees and shrubs ... the list is endless ... they may be willing workers, but a knowledge of their trade? Nahhhh .... when I want something done, I either do it myself or hire an American ....

Yeah it is authentic that some individuals do their own homestead artwork and backyard artwork, humorous factor is that those that don't do their own, employ illegals to do it for them. individuals are those that are lazy and don't decide for to pay the comprehensive quantity out to labors including in shape, so as that they employ those they could take income of, the folk that have not got a voice. in case you walk right into a lodge you will see no longer something yet immigrants cleansing the rooms. I wonder what those jobs are. Are Guatemalans harder workers than Mexicans? Are Mexicans too lazy to do those jobs? Do Guatemalans get extra assistance while working those jobs?
