ok, went to vet. he sead it wasent so bad and that it would heal scince i set the bone back in place and properly. he is already moving it and it wasent an emergency. been giving him extra special care all around. he is doing better. i had dislocated one of my bones once from a climbing accedent and had to pop it back in place if i was gonna getout of a revine and i know it hurts like hell but its worth it becuse he needs it to balance himself and not fall. HE IS DOING GREAT!!! i may not be a vet but i have helped alot of wild animals that were hurt. he is all happy with me i think becuse now he wont leave me alone for more than 5 minuts at a time without loving me up,lol. still would like idias for those *** hole neibors more-so, be creative. smokey has a wild side to him and i think he likes to hunt and stuff so if theres a way out he will find it and let us know he wants in, scince this happened he hasent even bothered to try and run for the open door.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET! The quicker the better, they will know what to do. If for whatever reason there is no way you can possibly get him to the vet, the best idea would probably to fashion some kind of a splint out of wood or something then wrap it to his tail with fabric or gauze. Make sure he doesnt pull it off. But if you can, please take poor Smokey to the vet!
As for your neighbor - call the police and animal control. That dude shouldn't be walking the streets. Of course that's the polite thing to do... if it were me I'd smack em upside the head for doing that!

Your cat needs to be seen by a veterinarian immediately. This is the kind of emergency where minutes count. The shearing forces that occur when the tail is broken (often when slammed in a door), usually damage the blood vessels and nerves that surround the vertebrae which extend into the tail. If the end of the tail lacks sufficient blood supply and innervation it will start to die, and once the tissue on the far side of the break is dead, the only option is amputation.
Your vet should see you as soon as possible, examine Smokey for other possible injuries and take X-rays of the tail to determine the extent of the damage. He or she will be able to advise you on the best course of action from there.
Good luck with Smokey,

I'm sorry about your cat. My Bengal broke the very tip of her tail, We don't know when or how, her vet said it looked like an old break though. He said there was nothing that could be done since it healed itself. Unfortunatly, she was suposed to be my show cat, so I can't show her now because her tail is a little bit crooked. Depending on how severe the break is, the tail may have to be cut off. As sad as that is, if your cat doesn't go to the vet, the tail can die and fall off. Best of luck to you and your cat.
Break your neighbor's legs! Or at least call the police on him. People like him are the reason I keep my babies in the house.

Like the other people said, get him to the vet ASAP. They may be able to save the tail. As for your neighbor, call the police and also notify your local Humane Society. Most states have adopted laws against animal cruelty, so use them to your advantage. If not, get a good lawyer and sue the crap out of the guy. I know if someone hurt my little baby, I'd do everything I could to make sure they paid out the nose. (But you also have to make sure it's within the law, too.) Get well soon, Smokey!

The tail is part of the cat's vertebrae which contains the spinal column. Nerves and bones have been damaged so the cat must be evaluated by a vet. The tail tissue can become necrotic and it must be removed or treated by a qualified person.
You are NOT that qualified person.

Get him to the vet ASAP!!!!! He will get an infection that will kill him. We had a stray show up at our house one day that was very sick and had a broken tail, about 2 inches from his butt. I called the vet to see what was wrong with it and they said that is was an infection caused from the break not being taken care of and that without treatment it would die if it had not already gotten to bad. Don't wait a few hours for answers, if you care this much for your cat, take him now.

He sounds like a really gorgeous cat. But my advice to you is this:
Take him to the vet and have his tail seen to. He might be young, but that doesn't mean that it'll heal on its own. Take him as soon as possible because it might become worse and even though he's not showing it, he is in a lot of pain. You owe it to him to take care of him since he takes care of you.
I wish you luck my friend. Send kisses to Smokey for me. I hope he gets better soon.
Kind Regards
venus

You can not splint a tail and you definately can't do anything at home so take it to the vet immediately so that if it can be saved they can do something. If you wait too long the tail may need to be amputated. If you know your neighbour did it you may want to report the abuse to the ASPCA.

Take it to the vets immediately dude!
Your cat is suffering in pain as you sit around waiting for some comments to come up on a computer, are you for real? Could you really be so callous or are you yanking our chain?
