well he is the manager and not store owner...(owner is a good man but i hardly gets to see him)and this guy finds it funny that i am dedicated and commited to my job....he s rude in front of customers...once in a blue moon he gives me a compliment or so but most of the time he tells me...oh dont bother mini...thats not the way it works..people will rip you apart ...
now i truly dont understand how can he even try to make me feel bad about my basic work ethics.....just to make things more clear ..other day store was really busy i was about to finish my shift but i saw the long queue and ppl exchanging glances so i stepped in n stayed for 1/2 hr ...when i was about to leave and he came to me n said 'oh you are still here.now i ll have to pay u extra for 1/2hr.i know u were trying to do good thing but thats not how it works'.he was furious.

i felt very bad.should i be more detached from this store or shall i just quit or ignoring his silly comments will cure the problem

He is feeling threatened, he probably thinks, in fact no, he probably knows that you would do his job loads better! You care about your work and your co-workers, there are not enough people who think like that now. Ignore the scrawny git, he is feeling threatened and reacting like a child. Maybe you could tell him to grow up in the nicest possible way! x

I would schedule a meeting with the owner and make a formal complaint against the manager. Give him specific examples of his inept management skills and his lack of gratitude for your obvious hard work and dedication. Then wait a few weeks. If you see no obvious changes in the way you're treated by your manager, update your resume and go apply to work for their competitor.

I think you should tell the big boss and if he does not like it then you should find another job Sounds to me like you should be the full time manager of this store If all the above does not work then just smack him in the nose :)

Start documenting his behavior. If he's as bad as you've described, the owner should know about it.

Write down the things he says and does, and the dates and times. Keep a notebook. Then when you have sufficient ammo, take it to the owner and express your concerns.

It is important that self-control and serenity can help most people endure most things, however, it appears that you now need to kick him very hard in the balls and look for another job!

Girl, my husband would DIE HAPPY if he had help like you! I'd look for another job - there are loads of retail type jobs out there, and a worker like you shouldn't have much trouble. Why let a jerk like him spoil your workday?
