Vodou and black magic are two totally different things. Magic is neither black or white, good or bad. It is the intent of the person. However black magic is a term that was coined to repsresent bad or evil magic. A type of magic practice used to harm others and cause destruction. Magic is a practice that can be used in conjuntion with any religion and is not a religion itself.
Vodou is monotheistic religion. We believe in honoring our ancestors, serving the lwa (elevated spirits), and honoring Bondye (God). There nothing evil or bad about the religion. Most of the practices focus on healing, protection, love, etc., and serving the lwa. The lwa are not gods, remember there is only one God, his name is Bondye which means Good God. Because Bondye is so distant from us he made the lwa to help as his "liason" to us. The lwa serve us and we serve them. I can go on and on about Vodou so instead here is the website of the sosyete that I belong to. The Mambo (priestess) has posted information about the religion. http://www.sosyetedumarche.com/Vodou_Info/vodou_info.html
I can tell you that curses, zombies, and evil things do happen but they are the work of the Bokor and not a Mambo or Hougan in the religion. A Bokor is said to work with both hands. They will do any type of magic for a price. Bokors are not intiates of Vodou but they do serve the lwa and sometimes have a peristyle where they work there magic.

Voodoo and black magic are two different things and yet the same.
All religions have a darkside hence black magic or majik.
Yet there are people whom practice a black art in one form or another.

They're not related.
As I recall... voodoo is a rather specific kind of tribal ritualism native to west africa.
"Black magic" is a blanket term for "magic" which is inherantly "evil" or used to "evil effect".... and beyond that has no particular meaning. Afterall, "evil" means different things to different people, as does "magic" to some extent.

Black magick can be done in any religion or system, including but not limited to Vodoun (voodoo). I have argued that it can be done in Christianity, through prayer.

Voodoo is an African religion. But like the knowledge of spiritual
things is. One can use it to heal, or to do harm.
