It would be all right, but it probably will taste way different than a margarita. Most margarita mixes are essentially sour mix, so it would be like drinking a rum and sour. I think it would be fine, but do a taste test first, don't go mixing the whole thing and then find you don't like it after wasting all that precious alcohol. Now, rum mixes well with pretty much everything so you can just go buy some sprite or coke or something and then save the marg mix until you get some tequila. If the mix has liquor in it, you can drink it by itself and use the rum with a juice or soda. Also, as a bartender I've never made a rum and sour or a margarita with rum, so I don't think it has a name.

Best thing for that would be equal parts Pineapple juice, Peach-White-cranberry juice, and to knock down the sweetness add a good twist of lime. If you have regular rum next time, go to a local store/grocery store and get a Bacardi Mojito mixer, lemon-lime seltzer water, one lime and some fresh mint leaves. Mix as according to directions on bacardi can, slice a wedge or two of lime, and bruise a few mint leaves. In a your glass, place the bruised mint leaves in the bottom--put a few pieces of ice on top of the mint--pour the mixer and seltzer combo and garnish with the lime. For added flavor use three parts Rum and one part Triple-sec to the mixture instead of all Rum. This drink is amazing, I have not met anyone yet that hasn't loved it. It is actually a Cuban drink and is wonderful nd refreshing. Hope you try it!

Tropicana makes a great tropical juice with orange, banana, pineapple. You can find it near the orange juice in the grocery store. Goes great with Banana Rum

K, think fruit juices... pineapple juice, what about making a mango daquiri (sp) from mango juice (latino section of supermarket)..or fresh mango daquiri's.
Or something simple like 7-up.
