Any situation works here. Say, you're pointing out your favorite shoes in the store window and say, "I like those ones!" EVERY TIME- my boyfriend corrects me, "I like THOSE" Is it really bad english to add on "ones"??

Yes, it is improper grammar. You can say, "I like that one or this one" when indicating a singular object, but when indicating a plural of anything, you say "those" or "these".

I'm hoping that you don't put an "s" on the word "anyway"....that is also improper and so many younger people abuse that rule.

Footnote: Hang on tight to that boyfriend, he sounds like every grandmother's dream! An educated young man with proper grammar is a rarity in today's world!

Really, really awful English. Encourage your bf to help you. Vzhnri is really off base, misguided and probably quite immature. You are judged by your language skills daily. You are considered less than first class, and often passed over for promotions simply because you do not speak well; even if speaking has little to do with your job. It is next to appearance, and followed by intelligence in the way you are judged by others.

'These ones' is okay. We say these shoes, these things. I don't see anything wrong with 'these ones'. If its not the queens english don't worry language changes all the time. Tell boyfriend he's allowed to veer away from all those finnicky teachers/adults who taught him so well when he was little. He's a big boy now.

Although both would be acceptable in todays society I believe that your boyfriend is correct.

Yes, it's incorrect, "ones" isn't a word ("one's" is, but that's a different meaning). If you habitually say "I seen that", stop that too! :-)
