Under normal circumstances, cats who stay indoors don't need bathing. If the litter box is kept clean, and their diet is healthy, cats generally don't have an unpleasant smell (although I've never had an un-neutered male, so that may be an exception.)
If some kind of accident happens, (the cat knocks something over on top of them!) and you need to bath the cat, here's the easiest way I've found: Have a warm towel ready. Get two pitchers of warm water--and add a very tiny amount of pet shampoo to the first one. Hold the cat firmly in one hand in the bath tub. Pour the soapy water from the first pitcher over the cat. Work it in quickly with your fingers. Pour the second pitcher over the cat to rinse--don't miss any spots, but do the head last, and very carefully. Place your kitten on the warm towel, wrap him/her up and give them a lot of praise. And a little treat, too!
Good luck!

Some cats hate water; others don't. In reality, cats are good swimmers. Tigers love water and there is a species called a Fishing Cat (from Asia) that will dive into water to get fish to eat. My friend had a cat that would sit under the faucet and let water drip down her!
Cats are very good about keeping themselves clean. They constantly groom themselves by licking their fur. They have very rough tongues, which helps "scrub" their fur/skin.
However, there are rare circumstances where you may have to give a cat a bath. Be prepared for the cat to resist and try to run away. Prepare everything in advance -- pet shampoo, towels, band aids, etc. Lock yourself in the bathroom with the cat. Make sure the water is not hot or cold. It should be about body temperature -- test the temperature on your wrist, just as if you were bathing a baby. Once you get the cat in the water, you'll have to work very quickly. Don't get soap in its eyes or ears. A quick scrub, a thorough rinse, a gentle squeeze to remove excess water, and wrap the cat in a towel and dry. You may need a second towel to wrap the cat. Then, let the cat dry herself; DON'T TRY THE BLOW DRYER! The cat will hate the noise and it may get too hot.
When done, wash your hands with soap and water and apply Neosporin and band aids to the scratches and bites on your hand.

it really depends on your cat.
not all cats hate water.
you can give any cat a bath its just harder if your cat doesn't like water.
if your cat does not like water you can empty a bath tub so that there's no water in it at all.
then fill a few cups with water and put your cat inn the dry tub.
hold your cat so it cant run away but don't hold it so hard that it will cause your cat harm.
then gently scrub your cat with cat shampoo(you can get it at almost any pet store) .
be careful not to get any water in your cats eyes!
then pour the cups of water on your cat while washing the soap a way.
the water should be about luke warm.
this did work for me but as i said it depends on your cat it may be harder if your cat does not like water.
also take into account the size of your cat.
if your cat is still a kitten get it used to the water while its still young.
you should give cats a bath about twice a year!
if your cat gets extremely dirty then give your cat a bath the day it gets dirty.
be sure to give your cat a treat after every bath !!!!
also brush your cats furr at lest once a week.
good luck!!!!

I don't know about all cats, but the kitten that I have right now, LOVES the water. She was abandoned, and I had to give her a flea bath in dawn dish soap because she is too young for collars and meds, anyway, she just laid back in my hand and closed her eyes and purred!!! It was so cute, we took pictures. I normally would not have bathed a kitten, but she was so flea infested I had to. It is not normally recommended in kittens. If you have to bathe the kitten, make sure you dry it thoroughly when you are done. It is very easy for them to catch cold when they are young. Good Luck!!

Yes, cats hate water. You should not be bathing your kitten, regardless. They look after themselves extremely well.

Cats do not like water, but since it's a kitten, you can gradually get it used to bathing.Just be careful to keep water out of it's face.Go slowly, and be gentle.Talk to it,and gently rub it's head.As long as you don't scare it,it will eventually grow to love bathing. That's the way my wife did it anyway.By the way,you may want to wear some kind of gloves for the first few times.(I didn't say it would be easy!)

yes its true cats hate water... but if you start them off as kittens, & talk to them & be gentle they will be ok with it. you need to do it often so they will be used to knowing your coming to get them to bathe!!!! I have had many cats & as kittens they go straight to the wash tub as soon as they come in the door!!! I always pet & talk to my kittens & tell them its ok, & give scratches & kisses to pacify them in the water!

yes, cat's hate water. If you must bathe your cat though....have two buckets with water in them. Dip your cat in one bucket to get wet, but don't put their head or front paws in. They will be more calm that way. Take it out, then soap it up, then dip back in the bucket. Don't ever pour water over it's head or you will be clawed to death. I got this tip from a vet.
