There are gun laws banning firearms in schools, obviously a criminal doesn't care about laws. So is it really intelligent to have a free fire zone for criminals or should we allow firearms in to give teachers a fighting chance to save lives?

No we should simly take back our children and discipline them as they need it and teach them right from wrong instead of sending them to school and expecting the already overworked teachers to give your children morals and manners. If you own a gun, which I do, then you have a responsibility as a parent to make sure your child cannot get to it. If and when you think the child is ready, then you should teach the child respect for the weapon and the damage it can cause. Proper safety should be taught. Back in the days of the pioneers, children were taught to use weapons at an early age so they could help hunt for food and help if necessary in protecting their land from whatever predators came around. They were taught gun safety early and a healthy respect for what it does. They were not inundated with show that give the impression that you get shot and get right back up and walk away to fight another day. They were not taught to shoot other people because it looked cool or would get them into a gang. In fact, I would venture to say that if a child killed someone they would have borne the scar from it for a long time, even if it was in self defense. Today's children are not taught to care about the sanctity of life. Guns do not kill people, contrary to popular belief. People kill people by negligence or irresponsibilty and just plain meanness.

Ban schools? Why? Seems like you are placing the cart before the horse.
Some type of stricter gun control may be in order. However, if a person wants to get a gun or rifle, he/she can find one.
It's too bad that children are often the targets of these disturbed people.
I am not sure what the answer is. The shooters need help, too. (Anger management, maybe?)

Banning guns in schools and not schools in general cause children do need an education and one will not be able to grow without education.

How about banning guns? I've heard people say that if the guns were banned then it wouldn't be America. Doesn't that just show the state of mind of the populous though?

It would be best to simply ban children. If there are no children, then none can get shot!

Alot of schools have good security measures now. My son's school has a few resource officers who keep things safe. And I'm happy with the level of safety they provide him with.
