My hair is really brittle and turning orange after relocating to FL and living in a home with artesian well water. Help!? What can I do?

Isn't it funny the people who add lame comments to get points never have email or IM access.........

As a matter of fact I was commenting on people in general. I have no interest in contacting you or anyone else who answer w/ dumb stuff, I simply made an observation. So get over yourself. ;-)

It will help if you rinse with bottled water, (it can run into money but will help). Call around to some salons and find out if they have a treatment called a Malibu. it is placed on wet hair and then you sit under a dryer until the hair is "crispy" then washed out. It will remove all remnants of oxygenation and mineral buildup from the well water. It is time consuming, (can take and hour or more depending on how thick your hair is). If it is really important to you, you can purchase a cap style dryer and the product through the Cameo website and do it at home. It will save you time and money in the long run, and you will be able to do it on your own time. Hope this info helps!

Go to your salon and get a "malibu" treatment. It removes the iron from your hair which is turning it orange. Use the malibu shampoo as well. You need to get a service like culligan in to put a water softener in--that should help.

Stop washing in the well! What are you, Amish?!
While my comment may be lame (and I can only assume you are referencing me in your commentary), why would you need anyones IM or email address? For harrassment? I didn't answer your question properly so "I'll show them!"? Yahoo Answers, to the best of my knowledge, is for fun, and as long as it's not abused all are welcome to use it. And yes, when you publish questions on an open forum like this for the whole world to see, you may get some wise-guy answers like mine. I admit it, and I apologize for nothing. But it does sound like you got some worth while answers. Good for you, and good luck to you. But attempting to contact those that leave "lame" answers through email or IM is bad karma. I choose not to have my email address or IM made public for circumstances such as this.

Check to see if you have a water softner in you home...if not...try to get one...try to wash your hair less and use alot of conditioner...make sure you give yourself a hot oil treatment once a week and take vitamins. Drink alot of water and eat alot of veggies.

Try using a shower filter. If it works, and you own your home, you could consider getting a whole house system. Here is the Aquasana I use http://www.aquasanastore.com/aq-shower-filter.html
Here's a link to more filters http://www.google.com/search?q=shower+filter&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
