Know if you need to lose weight

Health specialist use a measure called BMI, short for Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. This gives a good measure of your total body fat. BMI compares your height and weight. It shows if you are underweight, at a healthy weight, or overweight.

You know how many pounds are there in 1 kg. Do not know let me help you, it is 1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds. Check out what your BMI is by using the BMI calculator.

BMI Category
Below 18.5 Underweight
Between 18.5 - 24.9 Healthy Weight
Between 25 - 29.9 Overweight
Over 30 Obese

Look at the BMI chart to find out how much weight you need to lose to move from obese to overweight or from overweight into a healthy range. Knowing this can help you set a good weight loss goal.

The BMI (Body Mass Index) measurement is relatively general. Entering 2 or 3 pieces of information about your body can't possibly provide actuate results that apply to all people.

In general, it's a good guide if you are average in all senses of body shape and build.

Lets say your a body builder. For your height, you would have a lot of extra weight from all the muscle (and maybe no fat). If a female is pear shape and carries her around the hips and waste... she may have a higher BMI, but still be healthy.

If a girl has narrow hips, she may score to be under weight.

The most accurate way to tell is by using the Body Fat Percentage method. They are several ways to have this measurement. One, by using measuring devices at various points on the body... and calculating it. The second, is using an electronic device that sends (safe) electrical impulses though your entire body and measures resisted, calculating density to give a result of body fat percentage.
