Even though federal law now says the credit reporting agencies must provide credit reports free, it says nothing about making them comprehensive or easy to get. The credit reporting agencies are now using these free credit reports as bait to quickly switch you into purchasing overpriced, and often useless credit services. For this reason, stay away from online and phone ordering methods.
IF you value your time, the best way is to order by mail. It will take a few weeks for you to receive your free credit reports via U.S. mail, but you will invest only a few minutes of your time and it will be a lot less frustrating.
When you've completed the form, drop it in the mail to this address:
Annual Credit Report Request Service
P.O. Box 105281
Atlanta, Georgia 30348-5281
Use the first link below to download the form.
The second link is to a great resource (it's free also) for all credit questions. This guy is brilliant!

Under the FACT Act you are allowed 1 credit report per agency, every 12 months.
Getting your report is very easy and absolutely free, just go to: www.AnnualCreditReport.com.
AnnualCreditReport.com is the only official site to get your free credit reports. Stay away from sites like FreeCreditReport.com and the like, as they will try to get you for services you don't want. Always read the fine print.

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act of 2003 mandates that you are allowed to have one free credit report from each of the three main credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) every year. You do not have to sign up for monitoring services. The only downside is that the free report contains no score.
