What do you think would happen if the war in Iraq was completely voluntary, when i say voluntary I mean they would go without pay, and they would be doing it purely for Iraqi freedom. What do you think most soldiers in iraq would do now if they were told they could go home if they wanted or they could stay if they wanted. Do you think most of our soldiers would want to fight for Iraqi freedom? Also Do you think that the majority of soldiers would want to fight if they didn't get paid or they didn't hope to have their college paid for. This question is just about the war in Iraq...Not about if they would want to stay here and be soldiers defending this country.

FINALLY a question about the war with some actual thought! Thank you for asking. I've been over there already and for those who haven't, all the news shows is the negatives. They don't show the little kids following us and the families thanking us for trying to make them safe. I will go back when given the opportunity.

It would then cease to be a job. You get paid for doing a job. It would be slavery. No one volunteers for slavery. They would have to bring the draft back since there would not be enough "volunteers." Why would our military slaves want to fight for someone else's freedom? They would probably fight for their OWN freedom. If there was no pay in the military, I would not even fight for THIS country. I would fight for myself, my friends, and my family and that's all. Why would I fight for a country that can't even pay people who defend it. Also, people in the military do not make much money. Privates make around $1000 per month. $1000 a month to be shot at, yelled at, dirty. $1000 a month to be taken away from your family and friends and placed halfway around the world in a hostile environment. $1000 to see your comrades killed in front of you. People working full time at McDonald's make more money. If you think people are in the military for money, you are terribly wrong. Stupid question.

I would say it is a calling , whether they got paid or not.
As long as they eat well.
They join the military to defend our country from evil.
They get paid beyond money wise in the long run.

If you ask me then men and women are over there doing a job to prevent people like thesefrom coming over to our backyard and do this stuff. It would better for us to go over their and kick butt then have them people come over here and and we have to kick their butt. But if they did come over here and invade us it would wake up a lot of people and they would want to fight for their country. As for pay if you don't know already most of these men and women over their are not paid very weel for what they do and what is expected from them. They are over there doing it for what they feel their hearts tell them to do for our country.
I take my hat off and salute every man and women who is over there protecting and fighting for this country.
For myself being in the military I am not in the military for the pay, like which I said is not as much as many people think it is, I do it for what my people of the United States ask me to do, and I strongly feel that it should be a call that every true American should have to answer to and do if thay are asked to go and fight.

There wouldn't be a war. It would probably be a street fight with about 20 people. LOL!
