From Stansted there is no direct flight to Cardiff.

The closest and best option is via Easyjet who fly from Stansted to Newquay, and you could then change at Newquay to fly to Cardiff on Air Southwest.

Other than that, your other options are to fly from either London City or Heathrow via KLM (with a flight change in Amsterdam!) or via Aer Arann (with a flight change in Dublin).

it's not a long enough journey. By the time a flight have got to the correct altitude it would be time to come back down.
Train is the best option.
