Just wondering why you don't Google or Yahoo your request before putting it out here on Yahoo Answers? If you want a recipe, search for it first! Is it really THAT difficult?

It is one of two things....they are lazy or uneducated on the use of search engines, or they want the extra filter of people. I think some people are so isolated from other humans, and using the computer as a substitute, any sort of interaction that indicates a human may be involved help allay the loneliness if even just a little.

That is why I often check the level that someone is on, and if they are still on level one, just move on, don't answer their questions, as it appears they never come back to check the answer anyway.

I wonder, though, how many of the people saying "What's a good recipe for chili (etc)?" have Googled, found six million results, and want actual recommendations instead of six million recipes.

That said, I wish they'd mention as much in their questions, so the answers aren't all a pile of "1 tin beans, 1 tin tomato sauce -- source: allrecipes.com."

And I think a lot of people on here are twelve years old. No offence meant at all to the twelve-year-olds.

Some people must be thoroughly lazy and bored, though, and some utter newbies, given the "What is (common foodstuff)?" questions that a glance at Wikipedia would take care of.

It's pretty clear that people would rather wait from a day to several weeks before they get an answer rather than just look it up, which makes no sense at all.

I never understood this either. Especially if they are just looking for recipes.

Perhaps they just want one that people have tried and enjoyed. I don't know. That still doesn't make sense to me lol.
