There are several options that may work better or less good from person to person. Try for instance:

1.) Silencing your mind of thoughts for half an hour per day: Sit relexedly in a quiet place and try to think of nothing, using breathing (or mantra, but I don NOT want to sound vague) as point of focus for your mind. In other words, it becomes easier for your mind to stop thinking if it can focus on your breathing or the repetition of a sound sequence.

2.) Try to be alert on your own decisions. Ask yourself why you do the things you do so automatically day-in day-out otherwise.

3.) Try to think of things in associations. You can probably recognise the smell of your dentist's practice out of a million other smells, but I'm quite sure you've never really though about that. Other associations for dentist (highly subjective): white, sterile, scary (or maybe very safe feeling?), quietness...etc.

To improve memory the best exercise without pills is to memorise the matter or the thing you have to repeatedly. Suppose it is a name, do remember it repeatedly. It will fix up in the mind. If you get lose to other things which you need not remember for yourself and involve with them, you may lose the memory of the thing which you require. See, we are not using a 5% of the memory capacity of our brain. Best thing is to exercise or practise by repeatedly remembering things. Also have good sleep at the punctual time. Practise yoga and have walking.
Keep mind out of unwanted tensions. Experience this confidently and definitely you will find success yourself. Write me when success comes out. Best wishes!

Learn to knit and knit for an hour or so per day. You will notice greater calmness and alertness, sharper memory and better eye-hand coordination.

Choose patterns that are slightly challenging but not too difficult for you to execute, and meet with other knitters on a weekly or monthly basis to share information, get tips, and deepen the ability of the craft to affect your brain in a positive manner.

Your brain is a mix-up of chemicals. Your DNA tells your brain to produce certain quantities of chemicals. If your DNA tells your brain to produce lesser quantities of "concentration" chemicals compared to others, then the only way to adjust for that is to change your DNA, or supply those chemicals from an outside source. Your choice on how to supply from an outside source. Your "will" tends to have a strong affect one chemical production, but at the exact same time, your "will" is also predetermined by different chemical processes, so you very rarely see someone being able to "will" themselves to do something they don't do normally over and over again.
